LOL. They were going to give him more than $1.8 million for 4 seasons?

UFA after this year.

That is, alas, not a reasonable hope. Edmonton is so buried that the only team they have even the slimmest chance of catching is us. If Winnipeg finished the year the way they have played, about 15-17 or so, the Oilers would have to to 20-13-0. And I don't see .607 hockey in Edmonton's future for that length of time.

YA i'm dreaming that they will get to a 9th-10th finish, but all i ask is that they move up one spot over Calgary and take themselves out of drafting Ekblad.

I won't lie, now that we are terrible I am slightly upset that the Oilers rule allows any non playoff team to bump us down at the draft.

I think it would be funnier if they finished behind us, but we won the lottery.

As embarrassing as picking first overall would be...

Hendricks should have asked for a one team "no movement clause" from Nashville.

It's the double punk!

Take less money, end up in Edmonton anyway!

Great. Now they've just brought in a player thats going to be unmotivated and demoralized. Good job.

By that thinking Scrivens is a big loser here going from LA to Edmonton.

Awful trade. If they really wanted Dubnyk off the team they should have demoted him at worst or trade for picks at best, probably still by retaining salary, as he's probably not worth picks on his own. Instead they take on a bloated contract and a player who will most likely be unworthy of his contract by year 2.
