Feel like Byron also deserves some praise. Even without the great assist he's been playing consistently well the last while. Creating chances with his speed and making smart plays with the puck. Very noticeable in a good way even with the teams recent struggles.

Turning into a nice surprise, hope he can keep it up.

If we can put Sven on the Byron Development Regimen (Tm), then things will start to get more fun and enjoyable next year.

I was at the final Flames - Wild game last year when Cundari scored his first. Byron was also in that game and looked completely ineffective. Soft. Non-engaging. Meek. Just weak all around. I posted as such after the game and had mentally ripped up the Paul Byron lottery ticket in half. Kudos to him for committing to develop his game, and to Ward and company for coaxing this game out of him.

I just got home and watched the PVR. Wow, love Backlund getting the A in Cammy's absense. Overall, great game by Ramo, and really nice goal by Monahan. Great play by Galiardi to make it happen.

Didn't see the game, only caught the highlights. Seems like each and every Flames player was skating well in this one.

I get the impression that no Flame player had a particularly bad game?

I didn't think Stajan had a great game. Wasn't terrible but certainly not skating to the level of most Flames tonight.

Backs is tearing it up lately, who he can keep this up. And some of you guys were ready to give up on him and trade em.

I think he took those trade rumors he was a part of a couple months back and turned it into a motivational tool. Seems he cranked it up a notch right around that time and has never looked back.

Shows he cares, which is a good thing.

Yeah, Ramo getting a taste of what it's like to lay the goose egg in this league can only do good things for him. You need the positive experiences as much as the negative ones in order to grow.

From around just after he came back from that knee bruise at the start of the season till about mid-December, he was usually playing well in general, but since mid-December till now he (along with most of the other vets) has been rather awful. His skating's been poor and he's often been bobbling the puck badly many times.

From the highlights of this one, it seemed like he was skating as well as he has in a while and he wasn't handling the puck like a total grenade either.

Then again, I didn't see the game, so maybe he was just a little bit better in this one than he's been recently.

I think each and every player was happy to be out of Calgary and get some better weather than here.

Around the time of that knee-on-knee hit from Backes?

I think since even a little before that actually. His game has been rather wretched since after he scored the GWG to help beat the Sabres in OT.
