In last nights game he got rocked into the boards as hard as I have ever seen him get hit. He seemed to struggle getting up and was laboring getting to the bench. Not surprising.

If McGrattan is injured for any significant time, I wonder if that opens the door for Ferland to get a call up?
Obviously, he doesn't have the fighting skills of McGrattan, but I think he can be an effective agitator. A fourth line with Bouma and Ferland crashing and banging could be entertaining.

I'd probably just call up Macdermid as he already has NHL experience and is more suited for the role of enforcer. I wonder how waivers will work with him. If the Flames have to send him through waivers again if they called him up.
I want Ferland to get a full year in the AHL and find consistent success. Maybe give him a call up for a game or two at the end of the season just to get a taste, but I don't want him up here for enforcing.

You get 30 days or 10 games played in the NHL before a player has to be put back on waivers to be sent down.

Its ok they can suck together for 7 mins a night..
I might be in the minority but I actually prefer Derek Smith to both Butler and SOB..

Also curious why we have 8 defensemen up right now.
The Heat defense is crippled right now, do them a solid and send Smith down already. Or punch Breen in the abdomen so we can send him on another conditioning stint.

I like those pairings on defence. Smid and gio should be a hard pair to play against... Plus Smid's dependable enough for gio to jump into the Rushmore often.

Might be a #Flames roster move coming. Max Reinhart looks to be on his way back to Abbotsford. My guess would be IR activation.
