2014 CFL Offseason Thread

As the clock ticks towards the start of CFL free agency on Feb 15, it appears more and more likely that Korey Banks' time with the B.C. Lions has come to an end. Banks told TSN on Jan 2 that he had no interest in playing out the option year of his contract with the Lions in 2014, and he again made that clear in a conversation with Lions GM Wally Buono last week.

Buono indicated to TSN on Tuesday that he has no intention of renegotiating Banks' contract. Assuming he's convinced that Banks will not report to training camp under his current deal, that would leave him with two options: trading or releasing the seven-time all-star, something Banks hopes happens soon.

Buono does concede that there are some similar dynamics to this situation and the one he went through last year with Geroy Simon, another veteran player that ultimately moved on. He hopes to have the situation resolved by Feb 15, but given Banks is still under contract, Buono doesn't believe he is under any obligation to make a decision by then.

I definitely wouldn't object to Huff snapping Nick Moore up, I thought he had a pretty good season for the Lions last year.

I agree...love this guy, but cant see how we could fit him in with our current core. IF we dropped Lewis perhaps.
Stamps need to spend coin on the defence I think.

I agree and trying to find a replacement for Cordarro Law should likely be top priority (assuming he won't be back). Sounds like Parker won't be back and Forzani is still struggling with a ankle injury so if they can make the dollars work (easier said than done I realize), I would hope there would be room for Nick Moore.

Hamilton releases Hank after signing Collaros. Have to think Winnipeg will be looking to sign him ASAP.

Dressler also said he can't name the team till he passes the physical and signs the deal. Given he's worked out with KC, I'll be surprised if it's anyone other than the Chiefs. The Chiefs don't have a 13 on their roster either..

For the Nick Moore stuff that was posted earlier (I don't feel like making a whole bunch of posts because I have some stuff to post) he wants something to similar what Mo Price is making (180,000). The Lions offered him 150,000 originally.

Winnipeg initially had offered more for the services of Zach Collaros. Not sure if Hamilton gave him more money in the end, but he wanted to stay in Ontario.

Arash Madani reporting it will be the KC Chiefs as to which NFL team Weston Dressler is headed to.

Banks traded to the Bombers for Poblah.

The veteran defensive back and five-time CFL All-Star has been sent to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for non-import receiver Kito Poblah.
It seemed only a matter of time before Banks would be out in BC after making it known he has no interest in playing out his option year with the team. Lions GM Wally Buono meanwhile, had stated he didn't intend to renegotiate Banks' contract.

Just a guess but Nick Moore to the Riders now that they've lost Dressler?
