Turns out it was Boudreau telling Patrick Roy to STFU after he was yelling at Boudreau's players. So in the end, it wasn't Roy protecting his players, he didn't like Boudreau telling him to shut up

1. were rebuilding
2. wanted to get younger
3. wanted to get bigger
i think Tangs and Sarich booth hat Limited NTC's so thats one... so we had to find the best partner to trade with that would suit us as well... and the second, tangs was the best player in the trade going there way. They needed vets. They have been rebuilding for what seems to be, 3-5 years now and have a collection of youth that now needs to be balanced. We are doing the opposite.
Same money changed hands... but we got younger bigger and a RH shot that the team really needed. If david jones pots in 15-20 goals this year and regains his scoring touch... i think we will be fine.
If this was year 3 of a rebuild and not 1... we would be trading for a sarich/tangs combo.
also side note... speaking of right now ( and not past accomplishments)... SOB > Sarich.
It's that time of year again with the TSN games being replayed. The Leafs-Flyers game is currently on TSN2, then again on NHL Network Canada at 1000h. At 1230h, the Sabres-Red Wings NBCSN/TSN2 game is repeated on NHL Network. Even the Ducks-Avs blowout is repeated on RDS2.
With the young skilled players the Avs had already, they would have developed into a strong playoff team, regardless, I'm pretty sure. But then they got MacKinnon too. Ridiculous. The 1st overall should've been Florida's.
Hopefully soon we get spoiled with some lottery win and pickup a superstar in the making, and teams in a tailspin like Vancouver will be cursing at us for being so lucky.
Patrick Roy has always been one of the biggest idiots around the game. Passion, my foot. More like staged antics to garner the media attention he's always been so desperate to monopolize. The guy cannot stand being anything but the focal point. He's a sideshow, always has been. He'll only be 'good for the game' if you think staged WWE antics are good for the game.
And before anyone beats the dead horse, yes I know he can't hear me because of the rings in his ears.

Once again Roy showed that he's a bit of a sideshow freak.
I've never had a lot of respect for him personally.
You know god love him, but Greg Gilbert was the best ever when he was pissed at the other team on the bench. I remember that Anaheim brawl a few years back when I think Chief came out of the box after serving a penalty. And Gilbert just calmly pointed to him with a neutral look on his face and all hell broke loose.

Problem with that line of thinking is you're basically saying he's a genius, because that's really what it takes to consciously stage things like that in the heat of the moment for maximum media coverage.
The guy doesn't stage crap, he's not at that level, he's just a hot head.
But really, best thing that has happened to that franchise in years.

No. What I'm saying is that he's an idiot with a knack for seizing any moment that he can jump into the spotlight by acting outrageous. You don't have to be a genius to understand that acting like a buffoon will garner you media attention.

I guess we could argue this if you want, but you can basically give him credit for being smart enough to overreact in certain situations to garner media attention, or call him an idiot and admit he has no awareness of what it is he's doing.
It's a little hard to be an idiot and also be smart enough to know when and where to react certain ways to garner attention.
Something about the way Roy looks in this clip reminds me of Jesse Pinkman from breaking bad. Actually kinda funny if you imagine his typical dialogue from that show.

Detroit is going to have a hayday in the East this year. That division is soft and very winnable for the Wings
? Arguably the most competitive division in the NHL, although I think it's quite balanced across the league. Both east divisions are tough and their playoff percentages dropped with the realignment 8/15>8/16.
