I thought Bale was an excellent Bruce Wayne, but Keaton likely still remains the best Batman for me.

I'm not particularly well-versed in GL, but just for the sake of something different and a little diversity amongst these superhero movies, I think have Idris Elba as GL would be the way to go in a JL movie.
Not that I have anything against Pine.

An article from Variety talking about the reaction when Michael Keaton was first announced as Batman:
http://variety.com/2013/voices/colum...on-1200587317/
Quote:
What distinguished Burton’s “Batman,” ultimately, is how dark and serious it was, in a stark departure from the 1960s TV series and the comic villains in “Superman.” Those qualities were precisely what was lost as the franchise shifted into the hands of Joel Schumacher, despite replacing Keaton with two actors, Val Kilmer and George Clooney, ostensibly much better suited to the role in terms of looks and physical presence.
So while it’s easy to focus on the leads, what’s really important is the director and tone. And with “Man of Steel’s” Zack Snyder set to direct the upcoming Superman-Batman combo, it’s not like we should expect a bunch of “Biff! Wham! Pow!” graphics popping up on screen.
|
Quote:
It’s easy to forget, though, how outlandish and unexpected casting Keaton seemed at the time. As the actor told the Los Angeles Times in 2011, “There was no guarantee that any of this was going to play correctly when it was all said and done. There had never been a movie like it before. There was a lot of risk, too, with Jack looking the way he did and me stepping out in this new way. The pressure was on everybody. You could feel it.”
Come to think of it, if Twitter had existed when Keaton was cast, the service might have exploded.

I mean Mr. Mom played Batman and it all worked out fine. Let's just all chill the eff out. #Batfleck

Actually, going the John Stewart route might be the ticket for the JLA movie. Distance the Justice League from that god awful mess of a GL movie by bringing in an entirely different character.

I never liked John Stewart, but I agree that might be the right choice to make; it would also help sell the movie to African Americans. That and Idris Elba would be perfect for the role.

I'm willing to give Ben a shot but it is a somewhat curious choice. Then again not many people liked Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker and we all know how that worked out.

I don't think the "well people were against Ledger/Keaton" argument is valid, their careers were much shorter when they were cast so it was more of an issue of people thinking they can't do the role because they hadn't seen any evidence of it. With Affleck and his much longer career, it's more people have seen him in dramatic/serious roles and they think based on that he can't do the role justice.

I honestly think he'll do fine as Bruce Wayne. But as Batman? Don't see it.

Not into Superman but I thought with Batman in it might check it out. Now there is probably next to no chance I will...bring back Adam West and I'm in, you want older and mature he's got it!

Both were great movies. I just dont see Ben pulling off a Bale like Batman.
It will mostly be a Clooney like Batman. Which dont want to see EVER again.

I can see Ben pulling off a good Bruce Wayne. Not a good Batman.
I hope they find someone else.

The novelty of seeing Ben Affleck playing Batman is more interesting than anything that happened in Man of Steel.
Somehow this makes me more interested in a film I couldn't have cared about a couple days ago.

Help sell the movie to black people? Is this a thing they have to do?
If you want to do that cast Tyler Perry. Ibris Elba is just a fine actor that makes your movies better but I don't think he's a black person magnet.

We don't want him to be like the Bale Batman, we want him to create his own character.
I see this Batman as less action more mentorship for Superman, ultimately saying "We need to form a team." He is the tactician, why bother getting your hands dirty if you have Superman there?

Director Zach Snyder isn't going to get his hands on Batman and not use him to kick some major butt.

don't know how to else to describe it but I want the batman to be like as if he was a character in the movie Sin City. Very rugged, ruthless and sneaky
