It sure would be hard to stay in the NCAA with those rules being in that position. Imagine being a college basketball/football star? I'd be bitter if I was making millions for all these folks.

The flames should keep handing him bigass cheques. Here is a check for $50k for helping with this camp, ooh thats right we can't give this suitcase of money to you because you want to play for BC. Drop a set of keys to a Porsche in front of him. Oh sorry thats for Monahan.
Ya I was discussing with a buddy at the camp about what they would do if Johnny called them and said "Sorry, can't afford to make it to camp this year" That there must be a way they get these kids some dough for at least that. Through some convoluted configuration of bank accounts and what not. Or straight from Murray Edwards Grand Cayman account..

Really good conversation going on the Fan right now about Gaudreau.

Would their adviser be able to lend them money for travel etc., which will be paid back when they sign?

From what I remember hearing them talk about the gist was that if Gaudreau goes back for his 4th year at BC it's more then likely he will go the Schultz route and sign as a UFA close to home such as Boston or New York. Went on to mention how you could pass up on playing against the best talent in the world after dominating the college ranks and making millions of dollars... If he does this for his 4th year the suggestion was the Flames would be much better off trading him then holding onto him. That's pretty much what I heard before I went inside to Mcdonalds to get my Big Mac meal. Take it for what it's worth

Didn't they have that same conversation last week when camp was just starting?

I believe they did yep and it's also the same conversation I remember hearing about last year as well... . I desperately want this kid to play for us but I have to agree with their sentiments.. if he goes back for year 4... it's time to trade him.

If this is in fact the case, I would hope that the Gaudreau camp would have the integrity to inform the Flames of their intentions and allow them to receive the best return possible for him.

Regardless, I think this is all moot anyways. Johnny Gaudreau will be a Flame. And I think he will be a force.

I'd be shocked if he didn't sign when his College year ends in 2014. He'll see some games as a Flame towards the end of the 2013-2014 season.

Darren Haynes said in a one-on-one interview with Gaudreau that his plan was to sign after this next season.

Gaudreau himself has said he wants to increase his weight so that he is not a liability when he joins the team. He comes across as someone who is smart and thinks things through. I admire the fact that this kid is so well grounded and is not letting money, pressures sway his desire to play with his brother and hitting the gym! He wants to fully be prepared.

The fact that Gaudreau has a plan that's more than you can say for a lot of young guys his age. I am excited I think having a bunch of smart hockey players who are completely focused on winning is going to be huge for the Flames.

He will sign with Calgary in 2014, you can bank on it.
