Perhaps, though its a relatively small bump.

According to Nielsen ratings, 6.25 million people tuned in for Big Brother on Sunday, after the racism story made headlines last week. This was an increase over the 5.9 million viewers the show pulled for the first three episodes, according to the ratings outfit.
Viewership was down overall from last year, but the spike in viewership after the show made international headlines isn’t a coincidence.
It’s also notable that last week was the week of July 4th, which has the notorious distinction of being the least-watched TV week of the year. But Big Brother’s ratings soared. How interesting.

Aaryn said something along the lines of America knows the kind of person I am now and Julie responds by saying Ya they do. In reference to her being a racist.

So after watching last night's show and seeing who got evicted I thought I would watch the live feed show just to see how everyone was reacting and holy cow those 2 mean girls are absolutely horrid people.
I've watched every season of BB and disliked a whole lot of people, but man Kaitlyn and Aaryn are just awful, awful people. They don't even make it fun to dislike them like other "unlike-ables", they just make the show uncomfortable to watch.
GinaMarie isn't much of a prize either but at least she tries to somewhat talk things out with people she has a problem with.

On the other side of her, seriously to bawl your eyes out after knowing someone for 2 weeks... Wtf is up with that?? As well as, I will enjoy it immensely when she's told her job is also gone. I really hope Julie tells all three of them (Aaryn, GM and Spencer)
I would really l love BB to change their titles when they flash them
Gina Marie
Ex- Pageant Host
Now that would be classic!

Someone at CBS needs to get fired (or promoted...??) for this casting job. I find it really hard to believe someone didn't realize they'd brought in a house full of bigots and racists before they all started going off on one another. I have watched BB after dark many other seasons and never remember hearing anything vile, let alone the daily racist garbage you hear this year.
If Howard makes it through the season without losing his **it and killing someone he deserves the bloody nobel peace prize.

Here is a clip of the live feeds last night and Aaryn/GinaMarie being racist yet again.

I'd really like for this to turn into a huge war in the house. #1, I want these racist idiots to be put in their place, and #2 it would make for great tv.
I do wish however that Amanda was more forceful with Aaryn when she told her the other house guests think she's a racist. She said people were being hypersensitive which I don't think is true at all.
Again, terrible casting this year.

A few guests have said that they didn't "try out".
I'm not sure if that means they sent in an application and then were chosen without meeting them? I thought I remember reading about the rules and saying that they would narrow it down and en do interviews. Maybe CBS just chose them based on looks?

It's terrible, some players are rejected from other shows like the Bachelor and instead are offered a spot on Big Brother. Some have been found in the bars where they were just out partying and others have agents that got them the spot. It's why a lot of players have acting/modelling credits on their resumes. It's probably about 50-50 of whether a player is a fan of the show before he's casted (like Shane last season never saw an episode before he was casted).

Eeesh. Cannot imagine in my life how CBS thinks this is good TV. I'm kind of hoping now Aryan gets the honorary yearly mandatory boot out of the house. Pretty sure once you cut the head off of the racist beast, the rest of the them will simmer down and focus on the game more.

Are you trying to say CBS knowingly cast racists? What do you expect them to do? Kick out contestants for making racist comments? Given some of the mean spirited fights and bullying in past years it's a little hypocritical to do a 180 just because some contestants are being offensive to the audience so I don't expect them to kick anyone out. Aaryn and GM will be facing consequences once they are out of the house.

No no. I meant more that CBS is probably the tamest of the big 4 networks in terms of what they put on TV. They've usually run a really tight ship when it comes to the content of their shows. I get that it's a reality show and anything can happen but this seems a bit too far for even them.
Anyhow, I agree. these contestant will get their come uppins once they're back in the real world.

Absolutely yes. There should be zero tolerance for blatant racism on a reality tv show that is seen by millions of people. The fact that they're still on the show is puzzling to me.
It will be interesting and fun to watch Julie interview Aaryn when she's booted out though.

It's not like the contestants have broken any laws and they are not employees of CBS which is probably why no action has been taken. I'm sure they have had meetings and the lawyers have gone over the rules of the show to see if they can remove them but when this type of behaviour (arguing, fighting, backstabbing, bullying) is the essence of the show throughout it's history they probably can't just kick them out because of racially offensive comments.

You're probably correct that if GinaMarie didn't have an outlet in the form of Aaryn for her racism that she might stop saying things. It wouldn't make her any less of a racist though. Based on my limited viewing of her I would say she's a much bigger racist than Aaryn and not that Aaryn was some sort of catalyst for her to become a racist. She obviously came into the house with issues towards black people. She says she refers to welfare as ###### insurance outside of the house and she's hated Candice pretty much from day 1 and the latest fight shows how little she respects that race.
I'm almost glad that Aaryn was around if only to show GinaMarie's true colours.
