About the fiancee thing, I think some of you are forgetting that sexuality is not a binary thing. I doubt they'd been together for 8 years if there was nothing there.

Doesn't mean he shouldn't call himself gay, it's just that people tend to be too complex for words.

He probably was a great teammate, like the Tweets say. Give the whole story then. Looks like the woman got screwed (pardon the pun). 8 years was long enough for him to decide and to have come clean, and it wasn't "society's fault."
8 years seems like a really long marriage by today's standards.

Was she denied kids because he was gay? Did they not have sex because he way gay? If so, was it his choice? Hers? or both? I assume you know the answer to this, because it is 'part of the story'.

You are acting like she was held prisoner in the basement because he ended up being gay. After 8 years, if something int he marriage wasn't 'right' because he was gay, and she was wasting her prime years (because older women are useless right?) she could have left at any time, no?

F--- that. Name the "church".

LeRoy Butler, a former safety for the Green Bay Packers, is one of many professional athletes to tweet support for Jason Collins, the NBA player who came out as gay this week.

Butler later tweeted that “some parents went to the church and complained about my tweet” supporting Collins. “So sad,” he wrote on the social networking site.

In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Butler said he pointed out to the church’s pastor that the apparent attempt to cancel his speech was an example of the type of bullying he planned to discuss with the congregation.

Butler recently tweeted that the church apologized for the incident and thanked him “for not releasing the church name.”
