That much closer to a top 3 pick.

At this point, I consider the fact that our young players are taking ownership as victory.

I sensed that too, almost as if after scoring Sven had this look of "Iv'e done this before" He knew exactly where he had to be on the ice to score that goal. It was nice to see the ownership attitude. If we can just draft the one player who has instant chemistry with Sven. I think that would be a good starting point for this team. It would be nice also if we could build around finding players that complement Backlund.

Oh sorry, my bad. Thing is, no matter how outlandish and ridiculous a statement sounds, someone on CP will have thought it so you can never be sure.

I am starting to get annoyed with our prospects being referred to as AHL call-ups...
Probably shouldn't should I?

I saw Hanowski and Parise jawing a bit at one of the faceoffs, I wonder what was said between the two. At first maybe I thought it was Parise's records he broke in High School but Google has shown that to be false.

I would hope that he's a better trash talker than taunting him with "Hey Parise, I broke all you're highschool records man". That would be truly pathetic.

It didn't look like chirping to me. I bet they just know each other from Minny hockey circles.

for what its worth, i saw Suter talking to Hanowski after he got his goal, looked like he congratulated Hanky and gave him a tap with his stick, Hank just smiled and said "Thanks".
Thought it was cool to see Suter being a good guy.

I don't know... I get the impression that that would seriously piss Parise off. He seems pretty high on himself to me.

Ya, I'm thinking being all minnesota guys that there was just some general chat going on. I'm sure they know some of the same people or at least have a bit of a connection.

Ben Hanowski graduated from Little Falls High School in Minnesota, a public school that plays under the Minnesota State High School League's umbrella. It's true that he holds the Minnesota High School career scoring record.
Zach Parise meanwhile, is a product of a school located about 45 minutes South of Minneapolis called Shattuck-St. Mary's. SSM is a private boarding school that operates outside of any affiliation with the Minnesota State High School League, so therefore none of their records are reflected as State Records and they don't compete for State Tournaments or State Championships. Instead they play a schedule that can better be compared to a Junior Hockey team, traveling across the USA and Canada to play. Zach Parise's father is former Minnesota North Star JP Parise, who was an instrumental part of heading up that program in Faribault, Minnesota.
You could consider SSM to be a type of "hockey factory" school.
Along with Parise, other NHL'ers to come out of the school include none other than Sidney Crosby, who spent 1 season playing there. Jonathon Toews of the Blackhawks went there. So did Kyle Okposo of the Islanders, Derek Stepan of the Rangers and Drew Stafford of the Sabres. Martin Brodeur sent his 3 sons to play there and Wayne Gretzky's son Ty played there for 1 year.
They have a great girls program too. Mario Lemieux's daughter Stephanie played there. So does Crosby's younger sister Taylor. She's a senior there this year. Phil Kessel's (Maple Leafs) sister Amanda played there and just led the University of Minnesota Gophers women's team to an undefeated National Championship season and she won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award as the Nation's Best Female College Hockey Player. Also, twin sisters Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux played there and were members of the 2010 USA Women's Olympic Hockey Team.
Zach Parise is one of Ben Hanowski's favorite players, so I'm sure any conversation they had was good natured.

I take high school scoring with a large grain of salt but it's pretty cool if he has the Minnesota record. I would imagine a few NHLers have come through that school system?

Oh yea, the NHL has several Minnesota High School guys. Nick Leddy of Chicago graduated the same year as Ben from and was named Mr. Hockey in Minnesota and Ben was the runner up.
