4-1 Quinnipiac at the end of the 2nd, thanks to a goal from Oilers prospect Kellen Jones in the 2nd period to go back up by three after St Cloud came within two.

0:29 left on a powerplay for St Cloud. They had some great chances on it so far, goalie made some unbelievable saves.

Nic Dowd( 7th rd LA Pick) for St Cloud will play in the NHL, a long time before Hanowski.

Not looking too good for St Cloud right now. Quinnipiac just seem to stop them at every turn.

Based on just tonight?

Honestly never seen either guy play butHanowski has had better stats over career so wondering what is driving this statement.

Seen them both play a fair number of times and I like Hanowski.

Too little too late for St Cloud, 4-1 the final.

Alright Agostino, it's up to you!

LeBlanc the Hobey Baker finalist , free agent from St Cloud cannot skate very well. Calgary probably want to stay away from him.
LeBlanc was a decent skater until he broke his femur last season. He may regain his stride with time

I understand but he is slow, very slow. Great vision and passing skills.

Only 3 games left for Abby so I doubt Hanowski signs a PTO.

From listening to Jay Feaster on the fan today, my understanding was if Gaudreau had signed, he was going to get a look with the big club in the NHL. Assuming that is indeed true, you'd have to infer that Hanowski will get that same opportunity.

That's a trump card the Flames have to play if they're concerned about him signing. Not sure if a good precident for a B level prospect vs the merit system (Johnny G would obviously e an exception) but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Anyone know anything abut Ramage? How god a prospect is he - I remember Weisbrod was lukewarm earlier. Would think if the Flames want him they would try to sign and also use playing time as a carrot.

I don't know that they're that high on Hanowski. I would assume that offer was because of Gaudreau's development

I listened to that too and I think it's mostly gamesmanship by Jay now that Gaudreau's decision is out there. Jay knows his words will eventually get back to Gaudreau, so he's planting seeds / trying to entice the kid.

I think Jay's often too smart by half, but that was a clever little ploy by him.

Feaster didn't specifically say Gaudreau would be up with the Flames. He said they'd bring him in. I assumed Abbotsford, you assumed Calgary.

If Hanowski is signed shortly I'd expect him to report to Abbotsford if healthy.

Hanowski, keep in mind, is now a free agent under the Justin Schultz rule of 4 years since being drafted and not signed. I would expect him to explore other opportunities as well.

Hanowski isn't under the Schultz rule, actually.

He's Flames property until mid August I believe. If the Flames can't sign him, they will trade him.

Though Hanowski would be really stupid to refuse to sign with the opportunity he has to play here.

This is correct.

The "Justin Schultz rule" only applies to US College players who have played a year of USHL or Junior B hockey AFTER they were drafted. Then they are eligible to become an unrestricted free agent.

I believe the logic behind it is this:

They qualify for free agency because they continued to be Junior players after being drafted but because of joining college late they are ineligible to be signed thus not eligible to re-enter the draft. So they have to be signed by the same June 1st deadline as every other junior aged draft pick but 4 years (5 if they decide to finish all 4 years of their NCAA eligibility) later rather than the 2 you have to sign CHL players. But if they go to the CHL rather than the NCAA route they have to be signed 2 years after being drafted.

So does Feaster plan on offering Hanowski an NHL contract? The Flames can do so now that Hanowski's NCAA career is over, no?

And for that matter, is Drew LeBlanc now an unrestricted free agent?
