Hartley worked as an analyst for RDS. I doubt he would leak anything like this, but I guess you never know? I feel like RDS had some good Flames scoops at the start of the season too, but I can't remember.
I call BS. With the way Feaster is building this team, the Flames are gonna get 10 ringette softies if this speculation goes thru. If this happens, I want a huge frickin' fire sale, like the one in Buffalo like this:
Also, I want to add that if this ever does happen, I hope it'd be for either the Pens or the Bruins. Why, cuz you know the no Western Conference team will do it this year no matter how you think the Kings are gonna repeat. The NHL is starting to look like a frickin WWE match - you can almost forecast who's gonna win the final game in the Stanley Cup finals.
I think most people agree Iginla's value is around a late 1st + good (not great) prospect + bottom 6/4 roster player. If that 1st is conditional I want to see a great prospect or a young roster player with some upside on the table.
I don't. If we're not getting anything back that has even a remote chance of becoming a top player down the road, what is the point? A trade of our franchise player is supposed to kick start a rebuild here. A few mediocre pieces does not kick start anything.
IMO, at least one of the 2 or 3 pieces we get back will have top potential. Late 1st, blue chip prospect, top 6 forward. Otherwise there's no point.

Once a player submits a list, a lot of people find out so it's no surprise it's been leaked.
I hope he goes to Chicago, and we're all blessed with another Vancouver/Chicago playoff series.
No that would mean at least a second round berth for the Canucks.
I want them out in the first round or miss the playoffs entirely. No winning for the Canucks is the perfect scenario.

Its hard to believe i have the fear mongerer title associated with my name when you exist here.
This is just hilarious...all conjecture and speculation on your part, but passed off as fact of some sort.
Prove ANY of what you suggest...just one thing.
Pure and utter ridiculousness and im surprised you are still allowed to get away with it.
It was in response to a post asking about whether Iginla should have final say on where he goes, which is ridiculous. Once Iginla gives his list, his influence on the transaction should be zero with the exception of catching the flight out of town. I should have put the word rumored in front of it, sorry that it appeared that I was stating a fact.
I know that I will be raising a glass and celebrating the day that Iginla is traded. I have been wanting this to happen for at least 3 years now, better late than never. This might be trolling for the fans that cheer for the name on the back, but this is a moment to be celebrated as a Flames fan.
Puckluck can call it trolling if he wants, but there are a lot of Flames fans that have been hoping for this day for a long time.

Jarome used to work out with Ference and Lucic and they have lake homes near each other apparently or did. This was awhile ago I read this but Boston seems like a good fit for him competitively and socially.

It's actually pretty disgraceful that he can't end his career here, the mismanagement of this team since he's been here has led to this. Poor drafting, poor signings, short sighted moved. A owner who is heavily involved in hockey operations and a president as well. It sucks too see a guy like alfredson leave as a senator and we have to trade jarome.
Hockey operations in Calgary is in shambles and needs to be rectified. Ken king and his staff should pay for this debacle as well.
I fully agree!!!! Ownership, past management and Ken King could have easily had Iggy retire a flame if they planned their future better and they blew it. They have no one else to blame but themselves.

there cant be 29 other teams involved unless Iginla says so....Im just glad it isnt one team... 4 is very reasonable in this scenario...if its even true, which we simply do not know at this point.
Seriously...right now this is ALL media driven speculation, but people are grabbing on to it like its free hundred dollar blills or something.

It's well known Darryl would use Jarome to lure FAs and he was also consulted about acquiring players (Bertuzzi). In some ways it makes sense to consult a player who probably has more personal experience with a player than the GM does. How much real influence Iginla had is a question. I don't think he'd be making player requests but who knows.
Where there is all this smoke, there is fire. No way he doesn't get dealt. Flames would be stupid to pass up this opportunity to get at least a pick and a prospect for him now or get nothing when he leaves in the summer.

The only way this should be celebrated now is if the return is a no brainer to make the club better...something so impossible to know at this point and likely for years.
And no...its noy A LOT of Flames fans who have been hoping for this for a long time...in fact i would say the vast majority of Flames fand would have preferred the man stay in Flames silks for his career and win here, as true fans should.
There is nothing "good" about this other than to signal the fact the team is among the worst in the league...something I simply, and most would agree, cannot enjoy whatsoever.

I'd agree if this had happened last off-season, but there aren't more than a half dozen teams that would be interested in trading promising prospects and/or high picks for a rental for a Cup run this season. The teams that he's named are 4 of those 6 teams, so I don't think it hurts his value too much.

Seriously. My hunch right now is no deal, and a two year contract with the Flames sometime this offseason. This is based on nothing than my delirious rantings. Time will tell.

Here is a thread from 3 years ago with a number of posters wanting Iginla traded then

EVERY top line player in the league would be asked by their GM about potential players coming back...its common. What EE, Eddy and others suggest however is that Iginla was the one pulling the strings on who the GM went and got...which is so beyond absurd I dont even know how to respond.
The conversations happen all the time where a GM will ask a player "how is he to play against, is he tough, etc etc"...when a guy on your team has played with another guy in the past questions like "what kind of guy is he"..."how is he in the room"....all very common and unique to no one club or player.

I want toffoli, and a first from the kings. Maybe just a 1 for 1 swap. Or else 1 for 1 and get Saad out of chicago. But really as long as we get the other teams top prospect I am happy.
We essentially want to trade iggy for Sven. If I am a team on the verge of winning the cup I make that deal.
