No kidding. The Flames must be the only organization where the GM doesn't work completely in isolation, doesn't consult his AGMs, scouts, etc. Tough to get things done when you have to say stuff like "let me talk it over here and get back to you".

haha, ya, the ice was atrocious at the beginning of the year, but noticably less bouncy-puck the past few weeks.

"That place" existed 60 years before there was a Flames team in town. When they made the switch to all sports and the CHUM brand, it didnt have the Flames broadcast IIRC...660 still had that honour.

All that aside, the assumption that somehow the Rogers group is beholden to the Flames is absolutely assinine.


No, you may not get questions asked of KK from them as some others, but then again has anyone else asked him about the ROR thing? Is he even the guy to ask when it was Jay Feaster than made the almost monumental mistake?

KK has a job...and all yesterdays interview was ....was him doing that job. For as much as people want to blame him for all things wrong in the world, he simply isnt the guy to answer on ice questions...he has assembled a management team and told them what their mandate is as a group and allows them to do what they feel they need to. Whether you or I agree with said mandate simply doesnt matter...its what it is. If you dont like the group he has assembled, then fine you can take him to task on that...but to expect the guy to answer for the ROR thing is beyond ridiculous....that was not his doing.

Don't think it was staged aspect as Estrada says, but at the same time, there's some reason why the hot topic (that King would have had an opinion on, and had signed off on, if he was just the go between between Feaster and the owners) of the last two weeks wasn't approached by Leslie...even if it was King responding with the same thing as a press release that'd be better optics then the question not even asked, IMO.

I just dont think it was KK's question to answer....even if he does know what happened which I am sure he does.

JF is the one on the hook for that one, and asking him directly is more than fair even if he has already semi-addressed it. I agree they should have been out in front of the whole thing, but they didnt take that approach and because of that decision it will follow him and Weisbrod for as long as the question/circumstance remains unanswered.

Ever spoke with him 1 on 1? I have several times he is as used car salesman as they come. Edwards won't fire King because he makes him $.

KK does a fine job with the team off the ice. I don't really think that can be debated. They are highly regarded in the community and have a good reputation with media/fans/players etc. With a new arena coming the Flames might want KK to still be running the show to make sure things go smoothly, the guy is clearly a good business man

The on-ice product is the concern, and if KK is trying to make hockey moves that is a problem and it needs to be fixed.

That being said, how do we know that letting Feaster have 100% control is a good thing? Nothing he has done since coming here would suggest that, he has made some OK moves and some questionable moves. Letting him off of ownerships leash could end up being more costly.

I think a new GM is needed, and hopefully ownership/KK stay out of that GM's operations

For a second I thought you were talking about Mike Rogers and I was like what, he is the only guy on the FAN who ever critcizes the Flames. He is also the only guy on the FAN who is not really an employee of the station, I would imagine he is on contract work on a per game basis as you never hear Rogers outside of an hour before the game, during the game and an hour after the game. There might be a reason why he is the only one who really criticizes the organization. I wish they had more Mike Rogers, by far the best hockey analyst in the city.
