Gave them a chance? They got 10 seconds on that 5 min PP, the other 2 brilliant PP units almost got scored on 15 times in that 9 min span. Mix the units up, sit your top players. Getting 1 bloody shot in 9 minute span is a JOKE. Sven and Cervenka should have been given more of a chance, the units should have been split up and he could have used a time out, especially on the double minor which could have sealed the game. Instead they tie it 1 minute after.

Damn Minnesota and their boring, effective, defense-first system. Their PK was on fire tonight.

After not capitalizing powerplay after powerplay, you think you would at least let Baertschi, Cervenka, Hudler have a chance. As Albert Einstein once said Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

From the sounds of it, Hartley wasn't too impressed. Quickest media scrum of the season, he seemed pissed off.
He's been pretty easy going most of the season, despite a prickish reputation. Something tells me he's gonna let these guys have it tomorrow.
The effort was there in spurts. But also a hard game to get any players in a groove with so many damn penalties.

They aren't one point out and as always gets glossed over they have to jump 4 teams to get to 8th which is harder to do than just make up the points you are out.
Yes we knew they were a bubble team coming in but that doesn't mean people can't and shouldn't be disappointed by the poor play of the team.

When you don't get much PP time to begin with, if given the opportunity, you do something positive not negative. Was he suppose to give them another chance at a short handed goal against?
This is on the top players not skating on the PP, not the coach.

I don't get why some get so bent out of shape over something like a thread title. Grow up. And it's not like the Flames have built up any good will over the last few years, if people are highly critical of the team, the team deserves it.

"5 of the last 6", who gives a rat when you have a golden ticket for the 6 out of 6? It's just these points which will separate us from the 8th seed, it's not "fine!".

Those of you who are so happy with the loser point and seem to think this loss wasn't embarassing, please remember those warm fuzzy feelings when this team dissapoints you once again by missing out on the playoffs by a few points and still ending up with a crappy draft position.

On the bright side:
Did anyone see during the first TV break that guy ice skating fall and nearly do the splits? Made me and my brother laugh

The PP needs work. Overall, team played their hearts out. Yes, those were defensive lapses. Every team would have them from time to time.
Oh yes, the goat is on Jordano...but Joey Mac deserved better. A point still drives us forward. Regroup and focus on the next game.
Why Comeau is still out there?

I know we all love Sven and he's got a free pass for the most part, but the kid has to start contributing.
0 points is 0 points. Blame the ice time all you want, the guy has to do something with it.

Some would even say embarrassing, or unacceptable. But heaven forbid that goes in the thread title, don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Credit to Giordano he absolutely saved us a goal and in doing so maybe a point by clearing that puck earlier, but that is an inexcuseable penalty to take at the end. You could see it coming a mile away too. I don't know if he spent the lockout huffing paint but Gio is quickly losing a lot of his lustre around here. I'm optimistic he'll turn it around but we desperately need him at the top of his game.
MacDonald was and has been brilliant. I really hope he can stay in the picture depending what happens with Kipper and Ramo. He's proved he can be more than capable as a backup and even a 1B if either of those guys were to struggle.
I don't think the entire PP needs to be overhauled just how we go about entering the zone. When the Flames are set-up in the offensive zone on the PP they are pretty efficient and dangerous, but their zone entries and their face-offs are pathetic.
The PK has been passable lately but it's tough to watch the Wild kill off a five minute major and double minor aggressively and with confidence and then see the Flames all collapse passively around the net in a weak box covering nobody in particular. The Wild were able to take their time work it between the points and shoot whenever they felt like it and Hartley made no adjustments of any sort.
Tough game to watch, but learn from it and move on, get the two points against the Avs.

so they had a bad road game and walked away with a point. I don't see the point in sitting around pissed off when they have another game to focus on in 2 nights
