Pat's gotta cut him off. He's been ranting for 4-5 minutes now. Ridiculous. He's made his points 8 times now.

I enjoy watching this team play hockey. It's been over three years since that's happened.

Backlund played really well yet again. He's drawing penalties and his line was able to turn the momentum in the 3rd period when Calgary was playing overly cautious to protect Irving.

The Cammalleri-Tanguay-Iginla line was very strong tonight. Iggy and Cammi with some nice plays to generate goals, but I think Tanguay had a really good game. There were numerous instances of him winning battles with his quick stick in the slot in the Flames zone. Good stuff from a guy who looks pretty comfortable in the middle all of a sudden.

Hudler and Cervenka had a very lousy game, Cervenka in particular. He looks like he's lost his confidence. Hopefully they can put together a few good shifts against Columbus and get him that first goal.

Bouwmeester and Brodie were great tonight. They both skated really well and made smart passes. Butler played pretty well too, while I barely noticed Smith (which is good). Good on Wideman and Giordano for getting those shots through. Both were huge as they changed the complexion of the game.

I really like the Glencross-Backlund-Stempniak line. Hard working guys who can skate, cycle, play definsively responsible and have some skill. Reminds me a bit of the Niemenen-Nilson-Donovan line from years back.

Irving has good hands and legs. I like the way he moves as a goalie, but he needs to control his movement sometimes as he loses the net. I thought he looked pretty confident though. Hopefully Kipper isn't out for long at all, but if he is, I have some hope that Irving can step up and give them a reasonable chance to win games.

Irving is a positional goaltender, like Jonas Hiller. This is something that'll come with time as it's all a mental thing. Kiprusoff used to have this issue on occasion. I noticed he fixed it be using the national anthem time to stare at his net and figure out exactly where he is and how be he looks.

Cervenka seems to make 2 or 3 good plays per night.

But he seems to be falling behind a bit in certain areas of the ice.

Could still be an adjustment period

It's a really sad reality for CP.
It's because a lot of crabby apples on CP have a hard time actually giving credit when it's due.

I might get ripped on for this, cause these individuals get all touchy and offended about the whole 'definition of a fan' thing

But only real fans come out in moments like this. Cause if you actually support the team then you should revel in its success as much as critique it in failure.

The million dollar backhand. I often wish we had him in shootouts.

Two more goals from the back end tonight, I remember the Flames getting 9 goals all year from the defence one season. They aren't physical, but they can skate and move the puck better. For whatever reason, the Flames tend to play pretty well in Detroit too. I guess we wait and see what's up with Kiprusoff. Last time he left a game with an injury, the Flames won some playoff rounds after he came back.

Someone just asked if the Flames will look towards Freddy Brathwaite as a goalie solution. Even Pat couldn't hold in the laughter.

So very cringe-worthy.
