At this point, there is just no winning for Harper, unfortunately. If he didn't meet with her and she dies then he has to deal with the obvious issues surrounding that. He meets with her, and faces the spectre of "it worked last time, so lets try again". He meets with her and resolves nothing (a probable outcome, realistically), and then what...she starves for a longer period of time I suppose?

The part I find interesting is that I'm not even sure if she's invited to the meeting. It may have changed, but the first release just says that he's meeting with the First Nation assembly, which I'm not sure even includes her.
Hopefully something actually productive comes out of all this (Idle No More and the Meetin). It's pretty clear that First Nation rights in Canada need to be properly revisited and possibly reworked as a whole. If this thread is any indication of the entire situation, I don't think any Canadian (First Nations or otherwise) can honestly look at the situation and think this is the best alternative.

the format is probably going to be similar to the first nations meeting that Harper held at the end of last year.
This is an end around Spence who wanted a two week meeting with the Prime Minister and a Crown Representative.
She's going into a room where she will hopefully be drowned out by more senior people, if she goes at all.
I would expect that she is going into the meeting to rant and rave snd scream at Harper and bluster,
Chances are Harper will enter the meeting say a few words and then turn the meeting over to Indian Affairs officials.
But he's not going to sit in the room for days on end.

She has alot more stored food reserves before she dies.
This whole media reporting that her "health" is failing, that is probably from stress because she is obese.

Frankly if the reserve has as much money as everyone seems to think and we're still sending that much cash there we have a bigger problem with the social services sector than we do with the Indian and Northern Affairs.

Isn't this just the same meeting they have every year? Last year apparently Spence was a no show...I hope she gets grilled about her responsibility to her people and further more the fact that you live in an unsustainable area.

Pretty much is the same kind of meeting as last year.
Spence is already making rumbles that she's . . . . too . . . . weak . . . to . . . . gasp . . . . attend.
This hunger strike has been about nothing except her trying to distract her people from the fact that she's a a parasite.

Harper forks out another huge round of corporate welfare to an industry it partially owns in $250 million to the auto sector and all the right wing pundits care about is how much broth Spence has drank.

No we care about the fact that they're rallying around a con woman who cares more about stuffing her pockets and her families pockets then actually taking care of her people.

If a self proclaimed martyr for 'the people of Canada' purports that she is on a hunger strike to save us all, one presumes that means refraining from snacking. One also presumes that if one puts oneself forward as said self proclaimed martyr, one would participate fully in said hunger strike, not do a "well, you know, except on days ending in 'Y', ok?" particularly when one is being closely watched, puts oneself forward as the voice of the people, and is supposed to be some sort of vaunted leader. That sort of tends to happen when one likes to dance on the edges of the national spotlight, pretending to get #### done, when really it's all smoke and mirrors so you don't see that the Empress is really just naked.
Shocking, I know, but people tend to expect you to be honest about all of it, even how much broth you're drinking when on a 'hunger' strike when you're calling everyone else's faults and foibles into question, and calling them all the same things you yourself actually are.

This "movement" is going to fall flat, just like the occupy thing. Mainly because I think they're having a tough time explaining to the general public what they're protesting.
Some of them don't even know why they're there. You read or watch one news article on it, and it says one things, and then read another and it's completely different.
Based on those signs...oh man...

That audit report was dated in September, so she started the hunger strike and all this publicity knowing full well the results would come out, so she mustn't be too concerned about it, which I understand. Essentially the auditor (Deloitte) couldn't formulate an opinion on whether or not they used their funding correctly since so many documents were missing. That doesn't necessarily mean there were issues in the spending, but it sure isn't a good sign of how things are run.
