I dont, but he made that post and then 'In the Sin Bin' showed up beside his name so I connected the dots. I am assuming he didnt send one of the mods photos of his junk afterwards.

If he did, then I sincerely apologize to the mods because thats definitely worth being sin-binned for. I know 4x4. I've met him. Thats a perma-bannable offence IMO, but I thought his post was excellent.

Again, jhunt is being far too personally judgmental about it, but hes the one being aggrieved so people do have a tendency to take that personally.

Separating your dislike for the poster and his attitude and focusing on the issue is whats difficult here, many are just piling on because 'jhunt is being inconvenienced, well I dont like him so he can get screwed all day long as far as we care.'

4x4 managed to separate the issue from the poster and identified the bias therein and thats commendable. He got sin binned for it and he didnt deserve that.
He goes off on his neighbours because they have "too many cars" and should move somewhere that has more parking... All while he is in the exact same position! That doesn't change anything for you??

Further, I don't know anything about jhunt other than what he has posted here (which is more than enough).

If the worst thing in his life is that someone parked their car on the street in front of his house, then I dare say that he's doing pretty well.

Perhaps he should move somewhere with more parking?

Fair enough. My point is:

jhunt can die in a fire for all I care. So can anyone who parks in front of my house or in my parking stall for weeks or longer than a very temporary basis.

This isnt (likely) the worst thing happening to jhunt in his life. That still doesnt make it a nice, considerate or even civilized thing for someone else to do. Common courtesy would dictate that the space in front of your house should primarily be yours barring some sort of event or emergency.

No, its not a law. No, it isnt strictly enforceable. Lets look beyond needing The City of Calgary or Her Majesty to solve all of our minor civil problems for us.

I know 4x4 as well (and we know him from the same source). Love the guy, but that bolded comment is really a stretch isn't it?

I dont understand. You mean it isnt a stretch because thats something that he'd actually do? Because I think he'd do it sufficiently motivated and....'lubricated.'

I still have a photo of him tomahawking a full size axe at a poplar tree that couldnt have been more than 4 inches wide that his own tent was behind.

Ugh, so poorly worded. I can see 4x4 sending a photo of his junk to the mods is what I was trying to say. The stretch is your assumption that he didn't.

Carry on with the fighting and arguing over parking though. I wouldn't want to derail this gem!

Ah ha! You are absolutely right. I should never have assumed that he didnt.

They're getting in staring contests with neighbours, hanging around outside listening to gangster rap in packs with their friends at 30-35 years of age, drinking and smoking with kids around. This isn't a movie. I'm not going to walk up with a god damn case of beer, have a stern conversation with them that they don't know how to feel about at first, but come to respect me by the end of it because they like the cut of my jib.

We're not going to exchange firm hand shakes and start sharing in each others hobbies. I'm not going to huff gas and inhale computer duster with them on the weekends and they sure as hell aren't coming to the gym with me at 1:00 am any time soon.

I walk up and try to reason with them and it's going to be met with sarcastic smart ass remarks, #### eating grins and just general disrespect and worst case scenario.. violence.

So, no. It's not a matter of having no balls. It's just I'm not in high school anymore. I'm not going to walk up to a group of idiots who clearly want nothing but trouble and give them the opportunity to play out the fantasies they conjure up in their heads when Eminem gets to the chorus of "Criminal".

After reading through this, unless jhunt actually talks to those guys, I can't side with him. You have to first see if someone can be reasoned with. Otherwise why even rant about it on CP? Why not just go straight to appropriate authorities?
As First Lady said, you have to communicate with people no matter what you think of them - that is the practical way of doing things. You can call whatever authorities you want, but remember that there will be situations in life where there won't be authorities to call and no matter how wrong the other person is, you'll have to talk to them to sort things out and not have to burn bridges. This is a good way to expose yourself to "scum" as you call them and experience dealing with such people.

People are people so why should it be
You and I should get along so awfully

So we're different colours
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I never even met you
So what could I have done

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

People are people so why should it be
You and I should get along so awfully

Help me understand

Now you're punching and you're kicking
And you're shouting at me
I'm relying on your common decency
So far it hasn't surfaced
But I'm sure it exists
It just takes a while to travel
From your head to your fist

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man

Help me understand

Any passive aggressive measure taken in this situation will have to be backed up when the aggressive response happens. These people will be easily incited. Sounds like it would be a cheap shot/sucker punch in the suburban war. Talk before Tow!

You insult them ad nauseum here, perhaps they view you in the exact same light as you view them. More than anything you come off as someone who is pretty judgemental and easily angered - not a great neighbour yourself.

Also telling someone to blow you is ironically pretty white trash of you.
Oh, I'm sorry. Should I have just called you a twat back? Would that be a little more high brow of me?

Rant over.
Not once did I say that Cedarbrae was a nice community. In fact I said just the opposite.

Maybe they have this "don't care" attitude (at least according to you) because they don't know anyone else cares.

I've lived in several communities in my 30+ years in Calgary and I've always found the fastest way to neighbourhood peace is communication. My neighbours have come to me when they've had issues and I appreciated that.
Sorry I didn't respond to your first post. To be honest, no I don't give a damn about my community. I think the fact that they are very aware that I care is evidenced by the time he pulled right into my spot in front of me and hopped out of his car and stared me down. I don't need to be Sigmund Freud to understand the subtleties of that little social exchange.

Lol. Suck it up. I bet you people would all just suck it up when you came home with groceries or kids or a bunch of binders from work, and you have to hike it half a block because some jalopy is growing moss in front of your house.

Good old, dependable CP. Always full of a-holes that have never had the problem, so therefore, it's not a problem.
Well I grew up on 13th Ave. and 12 St. SW. Street parking is at a premium and more often than not, I had to park on 12 St. or half a block away.

It's not a big deal. First world problems and an inflated sense of entitlement indeed.
