I've beaten HUT several times, and not once did it say anything about me earning a bonus pack for the retail version. I'm pretty sure I read that you get one for winning the tournament.
Also, strange glitch that happens to me and my buddies. The first time you start hit and go to edit lines, you get disconnected from EA servers and have to starts new team. Happens every single time for me.

Finally got around to hooking my xbox up to the network and giving the demo a spin. Coming from NHL 11 it's a big but welcome change, definitely buying it on release day. I don't mind the new skating mechanism at all really, it does seem more natural... but I do miss the crushing arcade style hits. Yes I want realistic skating & arcade hits.
Really looking forward to requesting a trade in Be A Pro Mode, it'll suit my habit of crushing the competition for a month or so before getting bored and being able to see what my value is then instead of the end of the season when I've simed through a bunch.

Yup this happens to me too. When I kick the demo for the first time and start a new HUT team, the first one is always disconnected from the server and it's perfect from that point on.

Finally downloaded the demo yesterday and I must I am pretty impressed with it. Skating is much improved and the AI does seem a little bit smarter than previous years. Also, the cut scenes after each play are a neat touch. NHL Live moments also seems like a cool addition.
Definitely buying this on release day.

also beaten HUT several times, but it seems like I have to get a SHO every game since I can't score more than 1 or 2 goals at the most

Played for the first time last night and was very impressed. It really is like learning a whole new game with the changes to the skating and momentum.
The one thing I really liked, and found to be a huge step in terms of realism, was the need for proper defensive gap control. If you lay off a guy too much coming into your zone, or step up too hard, you'll get beat and give away a scoring chance.
I knew I'd end up buying this game but wasn't as excited as I'd been in the past, that's certainly not the case anymore.

Ive been playing with the goalie mode in it as well. I like that they let the goalie relax when the play is in the opposing end. It doesn't have the manual save anymore either, the right stick is used to anticipate saves. It's pretty cool

I find as a frantic player-switcher I've had to really dial it back. The momentum is just a killer when you switch to a different guy only to realize he isn't moving (or is moving way too fast in the wrong direction). It takes a certain amount of discipline to not frantically tap the "change player" button over and over again, but it's really helping.

I love how powerplays do feel like powerplays this year. You have time to get set up, but the CPU does try to get in the shooting lanes and make life difficult.
Is anyone else finding faceoffs to be reaaaaly difficult?

Yep. In the HUT tourney i'm up by one and a fricken junior kid wins the faceoff and the defenseman at the point shoots it and scores. I end up losing in overtime. Pretty damn annoying.

Got to play it today.
Definitely worth a pickup. As much as I ragged on the first video looking and feeling like NHL 12, it's night and day. Granted, I play with auto-aim normally, so this could just be me sucking with manual shooting. However, the passing, skating, and hitting feel much more realistic. Going back to NHL 12 after felt really arcade-y.
