Can't say enough about Russell Wilson. Matt Flynn should be looking over his shoulder.

Agreed about Wilson, the guy can flat out play football.
Perhaps I'm biased since my team's QB barely scratches 6 ft., but it seems that there are too many QB's discounted for being an inch or two too short. Of course, it works the other way, as well. The Osweiler = McGwire comparison, for example.

Yeah, Osweilers looked pretty good too. Making smart decisions with the football.

I have to say that I'm guilty of that biased. There's something about wanting the QB to be able to see over the offensive line and not needing to rely so much on dropping 5 or roll-outs to create lanes.
There's no question that I should just view the results regardless of size, if the results are there then its there, but i can't help it

Of course I want to see them at a disadvantage, though being fair only losing Payton is an actual loss. But my bias has a lot more facts, most notably the fact neither Gregg Williams nor Sean Payton have come out and sided with the players in all of this. That says a lot to me. Bounty or P4P, the NFL told them to stop. They did not. The audio tape is of course the most damning thing out there at present, and you could convince me to believe the hyperbole until he specifically mentions Michael Crabtree's ACL and Vernon Davis's ankle. The "kill the head and the body will die" is obvious hyperbole, but suggesting where to target players is not.
I can also remember specific instances, notably a game against TB in 2010 when the Freeman get hit at his knees some 5 yards out of bounds by Roman Harper. I remember because Freeman got right up in his face afterwards, as he should because that wasn't anything other than a cheap hit. And again, the NFC Championship Game in 09 is ridiculous. I don't expect you to agree, just know majorities in every other fan base think it was ridiculous too.
I too am a fan of football before anything else. Is it fun to watch a rival suffer? Damn right it is. But I don't even hate the Saints as much as the Cowboys or Steelers. Much rather see them going through this. I somewhat agree there is a level of overreaction to this in regard to player safety, but at the same time there has to be an overreaction. Paying to injure other players is unacceptable, and likely criminal behaviour. There’s a difference between playing the game and playing to injure. Within the game injuries happen, that’s a fact of life. When the intention is to injure regardless of the nature of the game, then it becomes nothing more than paid assault.
But here’s where the Saints are basically screwed: They, the players, agreed to the new CBA which gave Roger Goodell all this power to begin with. Of course they did, because it got them more money, their real concern. Drew Brees as the Saints Player Rep knew what this CBA entailed, and he agreed to ratify it, just like all the other Player Reps. They made their bed, and now that they don’t like that they have to lie in it, they are fighting tooth and nail to try and get some of that power back. I wonder though, do you think they would give up more revenue for less power for Goodell? I don’t think they would.

Of all the things that get posted on this board in all the forums, that was pretty minor. I thought you were quitting CP anyways?

Honestly, I can't believe more defensive lines don't get their hands up and in to passing lanes with Brees. I definitely remember games where teams would get hands up and bat down multiple passes, stalling drives and visibly frustrating Brees. Granted, he's excellent at moving in the pocket and eventually finding windows.

I think there's a bit of self preservation among Williams and Payton. They have the next 20-30 years of their career to think about, they don't have the 2-4 year window like Vilma. Any more antagonizing of "The Shield" at this point is just going to damage future opportunities for them. I'm sure that there is language in their suspensions that stipulates what they can and cannot say about the suspensions/league/players, etc. Who's to say that RG couldn't extend their suspensions for what they say while under suspension?

Well it's going to be another long season in Indy but things are looking on the way up now at least with Luck on board. Colts/Steelers is the primetime game starting in an hour. Luck was great in his 1st preseason game. Hopefully he can play well again. I want to see more of Fleener and Allen tonight. The TE set will be used a lot in Indy this year. It's interesting that Wayne for the first time in his career is being given the green light to play all sides and not just be at the top left of the formation.

He had the pick 6, but overall Luck is having a pretty nice game here.

Yeah...its pretty much a guarentee he will be anywhere from a good to great NFL QB, but as with all rookies there will be mistakes and growing pains. He has ALL the tools tho including football IQ....gonna be a fun process to watch.

Tamba Hali...suspended for the season opener, and fined two games of salary for violating the NFL's drug policy. It's only one game so that would insinuate that it's not steroids. But Hali is known for talking about how his body feels a lot older than it really is when he's not playing football.
Disappointing for me because I love how Hali plays the game. He battles on every play, and made the transition from a 4-3 end to a 3-4 outside backer. In the last two seasons no AFC player has had more sacks than Hali. Bad news for the Chiefs.

Yes, Hali is the most underrated defensive player in the NFL because he is in the conversation as the best defensive player in the NFL. The guy is scary good.

Vick roughed up already in the preseason monday nighter. Guy is starting to get into 'Prone' territory and their Oline will have to do a much better job then they have been

Didn't see it posted but the Phins have named Ryan Tannehill the starting QB, with Garrard down, this should surprise no one.

Some more about the Saints "program" from a former player....
Quote:
"The real problem was no one seemed shocked," Gleason says in the interview, according to USA Today. "There was no discussion of, 'Wow, did we just hear that?'"
"When he specified the other players' injuries, that to me was over the line," Gleason tells HBO, according to USA TODAY Sports.

Another Eagles game and another Vick injury! man oh man that guy cannot stay upright. Even that head first dive looked awkward. Pleased with what I saw out of Foles though, kid looked really poised and made some nice throws in tough situations. Good to see.
Eagles have some talent on that D line that will end up on some one else's team. A lot of depth there and should be a strength to this team this year.

While we're on the Saints, they traded an undisclosed draft pick to Seattle for LB Barrett Ruud, to make up for all the LB injuries suffered against the Jags on Friday. Pretty crappy news to get from Twitter Sunday night when I got back from camping all weekend to find out all 3 of the Saints off-season LB pick-ups (Lofton, Hawthorne, Chamberlain) - 2 to be projected starters - were injured and may not be ready for week 1, especially Chamberlain who's now on the IR. 5 pre-season games rule...
