Also, concerning Lawrie - I think he is a bit of a...... and hearing Buck talk about Henderson Alvarez (perhaps a bit cocky himself), I revert back to the great Cito Gaston when he said in the mid-90's he preferred players in this game to be a little self-confident.

I think this team playing with a bit of swagger at its age is a good thing.

Go Jays

Another strong outing for Drabek yesterday. With McGowan's injury he may be in line to start the season with the Jays.

On another note, Lind didn't play because of soreness in his lower back. Not a good sign considering that is the same injury that plagued him last season.

Sounds like McGowan headed to DL so Drabek should get a few starts anyway. Time to step up kid!

Agreed, Lawrie is OUR d-b, so it doesn't bother me. Reminds me of Dion in his first year with the Flames, but with the volume cranked to 11. And with more talent (obviously though, hard to compare between two very different sports).

Very happy with Drabek's outing last night. Watched the clips and he looked calm and methodical out there (granted they were only clips), much different than what we saw last year. Read he got hit hard a few times but it didn't come back to bite him, and he maintained his composure.

McGowan to the DL? I hope that's not true. The only thing I've heard was he was day-to-day, but that was a few days ago.

I don't think Lawrie is that big of a ######bag anyways, I've met the guy a couple of times and have some mutual friends here in Toronto, and there's not much bad to be said about the guy. Some people seem to associate him with a certain number of muscle heads because of how he "tweets", but he's very approachable and a good guy. Frankly, I could care less anyways to be honest. Some people seem to put to much stock into what they perceive players to be like away from the field through social media.

Mcgowan will miss his first start of the season, but I'm excited to see Drabek get a chance to pitch 5th and perhaps beat out Cecil for a spot in the rotation when Mcgowan returns because of it.

Getting closer and closer to next week and opening day for the Jays

I am glad Lawrie has confidence and swagger, that kind of attitude is very important in sports, as off putting to some it may be.

Jesus when I was 22 I was a cocky brat, I couldn't imagine how I would behave if I was as talented as Brett.

Lind's back is acting up again, these back issues are becoming comical.

Can't wait for opening day!!!

Maybe if Lind set foot in the gym he could add some strength and avoid these lingering back issues?

Just a thought.

Omar Vizquel was added to the Toronto Blue Jays' roster Wednesday a month before his 45th birthday, making the backup infielder the oldest active position player in the major leagues.
The three-time All-Star shortstop from Venezuela is batting .433 in 15 spring games.

Another day, another win for the Blue Jays. They've tied their franchise record today with their 21st win in ST action. I'm pretty sure that they'll destroy that mark once Spring Training is all said and done. I know it's just Spring Training, but I've noticed two trends this year:
1. The Jays are destroying the opposition, meaningless baseball or not. When they win, they score runs like gangbusters.
2. Lots of come from behind wins from the boys this year. If they're not destroying teams, they are showing that the "swagger" is good enough to lift the ballclub in tight situations.

Also, on a side note, multiple reports from the twitterverse that "Let's Go Blue Jays!" chants are being chanted at the ACC on various Raptors/Leafs game. It took how many years for Torontonians to finally realize that the Blue Jays are their BEST bet for playoff action?

Really? Ha!

Although in all fairness to the Raptor fans (was always more of a Lakers guy myself) I'm pretty sure they knew going in that their team was gonna stink. I'm pretty sure they didn't (or at least shouldn't) have had the same perpetual delusions of adaquacy that Leaf Nation seems to suffer from.

Regardless... Go Jays!

As a Flames fan I think the Jays are our best hope for playoff action as well.

Blue Jays won another today, Anthony Gose stealing home is the game winning run.

Sweet, doesn't get a single hit today. Steals 4 bases and scores 2 runs. Don't see that often.

Awesome to still see him in the big league camp. Can forget Snider altogether when Gose finally arrives to stay.

Gose is the player I am most excited about within the Jays system. He can already field at a major league level as he is a stud in centre, if he can hit for average he will be a wicked lead off hitter.

I think he had 70 steals in AA last year. That's pretty sweet.

If Gose ever can really swing the bat, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with. Can't help but love that trade by AA

^ I think his batting is a big IF. Average not so much, but rather rounding out the rest of his batting. I don't expect the guy to ever hit 30 HR's, but I do expect 15 from anyone who's expected to be a starter. Hopefully he can put on weight over time, without rushing him too much like Snider was. I do like what he brings to the table though, no doubt.

Yes but his attempts were high and success rate was ok [Edit- actually I was referencing 2010; as you said, last year he had a great year stealing bases and was caught only 15 times, my bad]. Nonetheless, he is a speedster and if his bat improves, he will be Crawford-like. He may take over CF next year or two providing his at bats improve.

I think AA re-traded Wallace for Gose. In 2-3 years time, with the addition of Hechavarria (maybe at second), Jays may well be an even faster team on the bases. Wild prediction next year: Lind may be traded and finally Snider gets to play as a regular but on first.

Though, it was only spring training, speedy Gose stole 2nd, third and home in the same inning.

Gose as Crawford? First let him be Brandon Jennings. Crawford is a pipedream.

^I think you mean Desmond Jennings.

Back to Gose:

"I never saw anybody steal second, third and home in the same inning in my career," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said. "He is obviously exciting. He can take over on the basepaths. He has a combination of pure speed, plus the ability to read some things. You just turn him loose. He's a pure basestealer

Has Farrell not heard of Willie Mays Hayes?
