Oh I hate Vancouver with a passion. But there's no denying the fact that he was the BPA by far, and really should have gone higher.
Its a fantasy league. I'll take whoever improves my team drastically, irregardless of team.
Once the season starts, I'm as big of a hater of the Canucks as your entire lot.

By what criteria? If it's about building what you think would irl be the best hockey team on the ice, taking all criteria in to consideration, I'd pick Perry over Sedin, and I hate Perry. I think he'd be a better choice to build a team to go after the cup with, taking leadership and intangibles into consideration.

And now I've looked at nhl.com and see that the original theory was to simulate it in NHL 12, so they'll probably make Sedin better. Bleh.

This is why I wouldn't take Sedin or any other canuck. We aren't trying to get the most points, just trying to make the most "awesome" team and I'm guessing 99% of this board isn't going to say any vancouver player is "awesome"

You might be right, but I don't think any NHL GM would agree with you.
One of the Canuck's mistakes was making Luongo captain. That's when their culture shifted to whining and diving. Then, they follow that up with Henrik as captain and things don't get any better in that regard.
Had they kept Mitchell and let him wear the C, or even Bieksa, I think they'd be better off. Anyway, my point is, there's no need to put a letter on Henrik, but there's no denying that he's a superior talent.
NHL GMs wouldn't let him sneak out of the Top 5.

I think that one could legitimately argue that his value is diminished in these circumstances because it is impossible (highly unlikely) to draft both he and Daniel to the same team. Obviously he is still a talented player on his own but it does make him a bit of an unknown quantity.

This is where I think it could get fun. Lets build our teams and then see who has the most points by the end of the year.
I actually created a league on ESPN and we could keep track of our teams on their just like a regular hockey pool. It would be your standard hockey pool where only points count, their won't be any bench spots, if your player gets injured then thats too bad. Also goalies points would be 2 for a W, 3 for a S/O and 1 for a tie.
Only thing is the site only allows 20 teams per league, so I created 1 league with 15 teams which would be teams 16-30. Someone could create a league for teams 1-15. The leagues would be viewable to the public so you can check to see where you compare to other teams in both leagues. Or if not enough people are interested in this we could just get as many people who are interested in it for fun.
Not sure if anyone has used ESPN before for hockey pools, but I find it way better then Yahoo. You would just need to create an account on ESPN which only takes a minute and also teams 16-30 would need to pm their email addy so I can invite you to the league.
Or if most people already have a yahoo account we can just use yahoo if its easier.

I'd assume either of them would be a lot less effective without the other. We should allow trades so they can be kept together.

I certainly would not have taken Toews with the 3rd overall pick if it were based on points.
I'm going to continue to attempt to build an ideal NHL roster.

ya, you don't just want points, you want a good team overall. If it were just for points then I wouldn't draft any defensmen.

It's just for fun. We could make it a rotissiere scoring and count PPP, SHP, +/- etc and then a player like Toews would be valuable.
Or of course I could just forget the whole thing.

I'd say just who has the best team, but thats only me. I know I"m in a few pools every year and the best one is just players, there doesn't have to be so many forwards or so many defensmen and no goalies. Its just points, but the thing is you only draft 16 players and you can only have one player per team.

This is going much slower than I anticipated, I figured one round a day would be achievable.
