They're a money making machine, you can't deny that. But everything I know about them from a product level, to suppliers of Apple, they're total d-bags.
The d-baggery comes from the top so when your main man Steve is a d-bag, it trickles down to the whole company.

With that said though, I give the guy a ton of credit. He backs up all his cockiness with results. You can't argue with that. The guy is a genius. His d-baggery is probably part of the reason why he's so successful.

Refurbished iPads have gone down as well:

http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/hom...mco=OTY2ODY4NQ

$369 for 16GB WiFi is actually kind of tempting.

On the technical side, I have a few friends who work for them and they seem cool. I just know for a lot of their chipmakers (like Broadcom) they have really tight deadlines and to bid on their projects is a real pain in the ass, so they are d-bags through and through. That is their culture though, from a technological standpoint, they aren't developing anything new (chip level wise). Its the Broadcom's and Qualcomm's that is making the chip level stuff cutting edge, and those chip makers are also the same ones making chips for RIM and Motorola and Nokia. After that, its marketing and business, and thats where Apple thrives.

But... their demanding culture is what makes them a money making giant, and why companies still bid on their projects even though they are total d-bags.

Hotspot is awesome

Only tested it with two laptops simultaneously so far, but it's looking good.

I was really only talking about hard drive space.
Extra RAM is nice, but really, the 1st gen is plenty fast.
I'm pretty happy with the crazy deal I got on my brand new 1st gen.

My dad makes a lot of impulse buys. He plays the piano a lot, I guarantee if I showed him that Year One video he would buy an iPad just to use it for sheet music. That's actually pretty clever.

The iPad 2 doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade to justify the price jump from the iPad 1. I'm thinking I'll get the iPad 1 for cheap now and give it to my daughter next year when she's six provided the iPad 3 is awesome enough to get for myself in 2012.

Plus I usually just copy what fundmark does with his electronics anyway so why stop now?

Can you get refurbished iPads from the physical Apple stores or do you have to order them online?

haha Silver I love it! I believe you can only get them online. Bought yesterday says it is shipped today probably will have it monday knowing apple. Thats my thinking for the 200 I save getting the old ipad brand new I can justify upgrading to the 3 next year when I have some more money. The big thing I wanted was hdmi out since it works on the old and I only have 720p electronics anyways I just went with it.

Picked up a new iPad 1 at the Apple Store in Chinook on Saturday. The refurbished deal was better, but I'm too impatient to wait lol.

They do offer good shipping, however I prefer it when they use FedEx over UPS. Last UPS shipment took about a week FYI
