I'm 27, and I can still appreciate music legends. I will take a rock group with 36 years of history and numerous hits any day. I don't know how many fans this group won over today, but I wasn't one of them.

They could have done nothing more than 'These Eyes' and still be better than 90% of what is out there today.

EDIT: I also find it a little humorous to be called a fossil for preferring a band from the 60's and 70's by a guy with Johnny Cash in his avatar.

I'm not going to criticize the fans of the band, or even the content of the songs.

They might be a decent band, but they definitely weren't the right band for this kind of event.

I find the whole old vs. new debate funny. I actually listen to mostly older artists and Metric is one of the only "newer" bands I that I really like.

It seemed to me that there were many people there enjoying it.

I don't know why they had any of these bands playing, I'm sure the NHL could have done something to get an actual popular band that could play some up beat fast music that would have gotten the crowd into it.

Rabbit vs. Cat??? What the heck does that even mean?

It was kind of funny to watch, they just seemed to be going through the motions and there was like 10 people close the the stage huddled around half jumping to the music.....

The game was awesome and everything went well not becuase of the music but in spite of it.

God forbid they bring in some entertainment that attempts to break the hick cowboy stereotype/image that's typically forced down our throats...

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I actually hate country music, I like the idea, I don't like how it was executed. For the record I don't really mind Metric I just think they were a poor choice for this venue. Why not get a band that would have played some up beat fast "get the crowd pumped" music. Stadium of love seems like its about pokemon or something.

Didn't get to see the TPC performance on TV, but I loved Metric they sounded great.

For those who don't know TPC is on tour and coming to Western Canada in April, check the upcoming concerts thread for details!

I also pretty much despise country music but some guys do it right and Danny Gatton is one of them. Insane player.

They needed Thor: Rock Warrior for this event.

Just got back from the game. Metric, or whoever they are, nobody will care in 2 years, did a phenomenal job of lip-syncing and air guitaring. They drummer was the best though, he wasn't even on cue/in time. Made for excellent entertainment, as myself, along with a few others around us, who know a bit about playing guitar, were rofling the whole performance. Yay new music!

I'd poop if Gwar or Thor played an event like this. For once we wouldn't be subjected to top 40 or the recent flavor of the month act. And we would likely see a band actually play, not pretend to.

Well it's pretty much impossible to play the guitar decently in -20° weather. I can barely manage it if my room is below room temperature. Fingers just seize up.
