Happy New Year to all on CP.
Great to see we helped the oilers finish the year with a loss but also giving them a point to hopefully climb out of the bottom two. I actually like to hear that they played well because i just want them to improve enough to get out of those bottom two spots but still not make the playoffs.

Ummm... Clear head shot. Thems the rules, Bruce.

Read this elsewhere...doesn't seem possible, though i haven't had a chance to look myself.
Oil are 7-21-6 against the Flames since 2010

Not to focus on the negative but I thought Granlund was really fighting the puck last night. Also lost his man on the Oiler's 2nd goal. Doesn't help his cause to stay up when Backlund is ready.

Noticed this as well, although I don't know that 1 game means he should worry about backs coming back. He's more deserving than others based on his overall contributions. Regardless Backs returning makes some tough choices again.
Johnny was awesome again last night. Didn't get the results, but I thought was our most dangerous forward. He set up some ridiculous one-timers that we just didn't convert. Might have just been me but seemed to get shafted on PP time.

Scrivens was the main reason the game was close IMO. Up in Edmonton and family is a bunch of Oiler fans. I tried to keep my cool, but when the Flames scored in OT I ran around the living room offering fist pumps to all of the dejected fans. Only got one of a possible fourteen.
Happy new year!!

Sour grapes. Oilers fans make it sound like they are the first fan base to ever be victimized by a five minute major for a head shot. The Flames maybe benefitted from the officiating but it's not like any team doesn't get the shaft once a week in the NHL over the 82 game schedule and the team that skates harder and dictates the play typically draws more penalties. The fact is that the Flames outplayed the Oilers for the majority of the game as the Oilers were opportunistic scoring on their few solid chances while the Flames had many more chances that missed the net (what's up with all these guys missing the net the last month?).

Way to end/start the year on a whiny note, McCruddy. He hit him in the head with his shoulder, and when you see that happen and a player lying on the ice without his helmet it's going to get called. If we had three goals on that power play I can see playing the victim card but we didn't even score.
Edmonton should be hoping that Schultz gets thrown out each game because they'd have a better chance at winning.

You're right, it doesn't seem possible. Thats a way higher point% then they have against the rest of the league!

I dont know if its been said yet, but at least Hallsy knows how it feels to have your teammates bail on you for the bench.
I thought the Oilers were decent last night but threw it all away on a typically Oilers play.

Absolutely crazy that even Oiler fans think the only way out of this is another 30th place finish. Yes the player at 1 or 2 is amazing, but the loser culture is not going to change with attitudes like this. Sheesh, not only do they need to get rid of upper management, but there fans are almost in need of a rebuild as well. They have been conditioned to love the abuse like a battered victim that keeps going back for more.
