Anyone actually watch Kanzig play so far this year? Would like to know how he's progressed as a shutdown defenceman.

Went to a Royals game last Sunday. They played Tri-cities and won 2-1. Kanzig looked good. Didn't notice him much(which is good) but he did make a couple nice outlet passes and seemed to be able to move the puck alright in general. One or two scrambly shifts but that's to be expected. They were using him on the PK and he didn't look out of place

Also got in one fight which was pretty much a draw. The other guy managed to tie up his throwin' arm which probably saved his life.

Here's a nice write-up on last night's Providence win.

Gilmour, Jankowski pace Providence attack in win over Minnesota State

http://www.uscho.com/recaps/2013/10/...nnesota-state/

Quote:
Gilmour has a newfound confidence this season after being selected by the Calgary Flames in the seventh round of this year’s NHL Draft.

“I just had the opportunity to jump into the rush and shoot the puck,” Gilmour said. “Good things happen when you put the puck on net.”

One game in, Gilmour already has half his goal total from 38 games last season.

Live stream of the Providence game: http://mediaplayer.cox-sports.com/me...B_OEM_ID=25400

If the link doesn't go right to the game, click the "Live Events" link on the bottom left, then click the "Watch Now" button on the right side of the screen.

Currently 0-0 late in the first.

It's been a penalty parade and Gillies is having another strong game. 16 shots against with 4 and a half minutes left in the first.

0-0 after 1

Gillies turned away all 20 shots -I think he needs stiffer competition!

Gillies being Gillies in the first. 20 saves keep it 0-0.

Jankowski 5 for 8 on face offs in the first.

Good interview with Gillies in the first intermission. Asked what he took from the Calgary camp back to College, and he said that as a goalie he'll be looked upon as a silent leader on the ice and you don't need a C or A to lead your team (so, he already knows more about being a pro than Luongo).

3-0 Providence after 2. PC played a good chunk of the second on the PP, including one 5 minute major.

No points for Janko or Gilmour. Pretty easy period for Gillies. Only 5 shots against.

Janko 11 for 16 on faceoffs through 2 periods. He has definitely added bulk to his frame since last season.

I know I know, not a Flames prospect ... but Detroit prospect Anthony Mantha is unreal in the Q. He had another hattrick tonight, he now has 27 points (16+11) in only 9 games ... wow

Roy, Klimchuk, Kulak and Gordon are all in action in the Dub tonight ... no points so far

SHUTOUT GILLIES!!!

No scoring in the third. Gillies gets his first shutout of the season, and sixth of his college career, stopping all 38 shots he faced (63 of 64 in the first two games).

Jankowski 14 for 22 on faceoffs in the game. Gilmour looked good.
