I'm very happy about 6*$4.85M for Lindholm.

Very good contract. Still basically 5 per, but on the right side of the rounding.

Put Lindholm with Gaudreau-Monahan and you get a RH shot on the line and a guy who can take faceoffs when location dictates that a RH would pull the puck better. If the 3M line needed anything last year it was a deadeye'd shooter to capitalize on all the OZ time they earned by pushing the play north.
Optimally I'd run the lines and PP units like so...
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal
Bennett-Jankowski-Frolik
Lazar-Ryan-Czarnik
PP1:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Neal-Ryan-Giordano
PP2:
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm-Hanifin-Hamonic
|
In support of the bolded, just think of all the times Frolik put the puck centre mass on the goalie last year. He had opportunities. Neal buries a good percentage of those.
On PP2 - I don't think Hamonic would see the PP at all. The two defencemen used by GG was an anomoly and out of desperation, IMO. Plus Hamonic isn't an offensive guy and not really a shooter. You probably get Bennett or Jankowski. Or, I guess, Czarnik if he turns out to be good.

That's perfect, I was expecting $5M or more for that 6th year
Treliving has negotiated some amazing contracts

Keeping Giordano, Monahan and Gaudreau under 7M is paying dividends going forward.

Fantastic!
Now I expect Hanifin to come in around Hamonic's salary.

I think that he would have got more in arbitration (if only a bit) but 6 years insteaad of a Max 3 years via arbitration sealed that deal. And I'm thrilled with the term. That clicking you hear is the pieces falling in to place.

That leaves a clean 8 million to be spread between Hanifin, Jankowski, Rittich, Kulak and Hathaway. How do you imagine that gets spread out? Will Hanifin get a bridge? How many years does Jankowski get?

Tre is so good at these negotiations. Less than what I was expecting, especially when there’s no clause involved. I like it.
