Yeah. Nice play by Brouwer to do that and a great play by Gio to hound and then strip the Nuck player to free up the puck to create that opportunity as well just as the Freddie penalty expired.

Bennett was 73% in the dot tonight. I think he is also good defensively. Backlund was NOT good defensively to start his career, but he became really good defensively.

People just need some patience when it comes to Bennett. The only criticism I have of him is to watch that line a bit more when it comes to taking penalties. I thought the first one is a good penalty to take - never a bad penalty if it is to help prevent a goal. He got lucky on the Dorsett trip (well, other than Dorsett scoring afterwards) that the refs didn't call him on that.

Flames played much better tonight, but are still allowing a few too many prime chances (at least when they are not on the PK that is - PK is golden). How much better I am not sure since Vancouver kind of sucks now, but they seemed to tighten things up a bit. It is a process. Hopefully when they return from this mini-break they will look much better defensively without drying up the offence.

Nice bounce-back from Smith. I thought he really saved himself some embarrassment on that bouncing puck - he was really sharp there, and sometimes those go in when the goalie isn't so sharp. Played well, so those 5 goals that got by him yesterday are gone. Think that was the right call by Gulutzan.

Jagr's first point. You can see his timing is getting better. Missed that golden chance, but it is getting closer and he is getting better.

So we wait until Bennett hits his stride just like Backlund? In this window their primes do not match up and we miss the window of our 3m line.

Right now isn't patience anymore, its figure out how to go for it and what it will cost.

Jankowski to the 3C and Bennett to 1RW or 3LW, please and thanks.
Agreed, also allows this team to put its best team on the ice. Bennett can always have more looks at center throughout the season but right now I think you need to see what Janko can offer.

Didn't get to see all of the game. How did the Flames hold the Canucks to 29 shots when they had 9 million power plays? Not that I'm complaining.

Typical NHL. Awful officiating, to where there's hardly any 5 on 5 play any more, and they don't even get the stats correct. Bet no one is even overlooking these things.

Canucks PP is comically awful. They had maybe 1-2 shots in the 5 1st period PPs.

Actually, the way they count shots now, as I've heard. Is if they had 29, it was more like they really only had 7.

Two totally different players, don't see the comparisons at all.
The comparison is not between the players. The similarities lie within the fans and how they express themselves about the two players. I.E a complete lack of patience. It was shortsighted winjing back then and its the exact same now.

Did a little more research. The Canucks PP was so bad, they actually generated 20% fewer shots / minute on the powerplay than they did 5v5.

5v5: 41 Attempts in 34.7 minutes
PP: 16 Attempts in 16.8 minutes

Yeah. Boeser looks quite good, despite the Nuck stench.

Holy crow it's so quiet in here, especially considering there's going to be no more GDT, GT & PGT stuff to talk about until Thursday.

Flames win! I only caught the 2nd half of the game but still have a few comments:

-So many penalties.
-Wow the Canucks are so bad.
-Jagr to Gaudreau!!!

You are surprised it is quiet in the thread at 1am Calgary time?

I love Saturday HNIC wins...especially against Vancouver!

Tonight was like the good old days. Flames win, Oilers lose, getting drunk watching hockey and then SNL with the wife.

May sound pathetic but to me it doesn’t get better than this.

Looks pretty simple to understand but I know some players are still having problem getting rid of their bad habits. I just hope the linesman drops the puck a lot faster though.
I was confused with why Freddie Hamilton is on the lineup before the game but I thought he did okay and made that 4th line with Brouwer and Glass much faster. Anyone know why Ferland were late scratch tonight? Anyways happy with the win, only complain I have was the amount of penalties. Smith was solid again.
Zuckerberg strikes again. Stay out of the NHL.
