Talk to a teller at your bank. If they don't have any they might order some for you if you have a history with them.

Really? Does the school system still teach history?

Do banks have access to uncirculated banknotes? My local RBC branch gets their bills dispensed from a machine behind the wicket counters.

I think Albern Coins does.

I love the 5. I dont think it is bland at all. I really like the little touches of having canada in the view of the earth from space and the horizon glow. Not big on the font for the number.
I think the 10 is too busy, and the mountains in the background doesnt really go with the train that connects canada theme anymore than fields, or rivers or oceans does. It still looks good though.

Re: $5 bill
Thought this was a good summation on the topic:
Kim Carter Taveroff: Col. Chris Hadfield will be the last Canadian in space for the foreseeable future because Canada has used up all it's space flight credits the CanadaArm earned it, and the Canadian Space Agency is not even a blip on the radar of the government. Boasting achievements of the past while failing to look towards the future gives not just the world, but Canadian citizens a false impression of Canada's role in the future of space exploration.

Always someone looking for any opportunity to get on their soap box and turn something like this into a grave political issue (not you, worth). Our money has founding fathers of Confederation, The Queen and former Prime Ministers on it too; not quite looking "forward", as seems to be this woman's gripe and standard for what picture should be on the bills.
The $10 bill has a train on it, of a route that caters to private businesses CN and VIA...and displays a route that shuns one of the other major railways...where's the fake outcry over that?
These bills are more than the specific achievement of forging a northern train route, and the years and millions of dollars and hours of Canadian engineers it took to create a robotic arm that works in space and has helped advance the worldwide space agenda; they're both symbols for Canadian ingenuity and achievement, both at home and abroad, and that ideal is timeless....and that it why it's on the money (literally and figuratively).

This is a bit of an aside, but I thought this was kind of interesting.
Tonight I tried to open this image that I snapped in Photoshop CS5 so I could crop it, but got this message:
Made me wonder if there's something on the bills themselves (a specific marker, or something) that the software picks up, or if it just sees "100," or what.

They probably embedded a watermark into the image file, which Photoshop would look for on opening it.

Printers and copiers do the same thing too. Cool and kind of creepy in a conspiracy kind of way.

That's kinda interesting. I slapped one of the new 20's in my multifuction brother printer to see what would happen. You can photocopy it no problem (image isn't great) but if you try to scan it, as soon as the scanner hits the bill it stops and cancels the scan.

Yup, our colour copier turns the output page black as soon at it detects money in the picture.
