Sharing in case anyone is interested, there is currently a Kickstarter project to build a large (18-21in.) replica of the Roci using licensed assets from the show. It's currently fully funded and being done by a company with a good track record of building TV show merch. Bit rich for my blood though
They've done some of the most realistic portrayals of potential near future space combat so far in a TV show. Especially around Newtonian/Keplerian physics and gravity in space combat on a limited budget. Star Wars WWII-esque space bombing run from TLJ, this is not.
I'd expect things to improve space combat a bit now Amazon's thrown a bigger bag of cash at them. Though this coming season "shouldn't" really focus on that.

No, I know. I just liked how in the books it was almost like submarine warfare. I guess that's hard to translate into drama on television.

Agreed, so well done but perhaps with the limited budget they had pre Amazon we didn't get the steadily held beauty shots. Expecting that will change now that they've got that sweet Amazon money. Season 5 is gonna have some real jaw-dropping scenes I'm hoping.
Ninja Edit: Agree with your comment above Peter. The long range combat in the books definitely shows how much time combatants have to prepare and react in an engagement. They've definitely sped that part up in the TV show.

Just got Prime a few months ago... I have no idea how I hadn't heard of this show before then. Really really good Sci-Fi, and I'm now done all the past seasons. Is Thomas Jane going to be main cast again for season 4?

There's a fine line between drama and realism that has to be walked by showrunners for sure. I vaguely remember seeing an interview awhile back where they were talking about whether to include sounds and the "pew pew pew" from the PDCs firing in the space combat. They ultimately decided to keep it in for dramatic purposes.

Space combat kinda sucking a bit when they don't show things, totally agree for that part. Especially around the last season's big UNN civil war fight where we were forced to watch it play out on a tactical display. That seems like a budget decision than anything else.

The scene in Caliban's War where the Rocinante smacks the UNN destroyer battlegroup from behind with their spread of torpedos was so cool. All major naval engagements involve that kind of calculation, positioning, and tactical cycling. It could be shown in a very cool way on TV, but obviously, most people want to watch space dogfights.

Just finished reading Cibola Burn. Not my favourite book in series but still solid.
Spoiler!
####ing Elvi was the worst written female character ever, felt like I was reading a teenage romance novel. Hope they change that up on the show.
It was my least favorite book of the series as well because Elvi and Basia were so insufferable. Luckily we will not have to listen to their thoughts for the show and the next book after redeemed things tenfold.
New trailer for S4 dropped. Contains quite a few new scenes.

I just finished Tiamats wrath and holy hell was that a great book! Probably my favorite of the entire series. On par with leviathan Wakes. I really enjoyed how the story is progressing as I felt the last two/three prior there was a lot of filler story line.
No spoilers, but, it really sucks. It really, really sucks. Its one giant plot-hole made up of loads of smaller plot holes (bad, lazy writing) with lackluster acting, crappy sets, and is all around just a mess. And I LOVED the first three seasons.
Watched the 1st episode didn't get that vibe at all thought it was great picked up right where they left off. The aerial views are once again thrilling they really make you feel you're visiting another world.
