The shooter has not been identified yet as per the FBI at this moment though a name has been surfacing on the internet. It's tentative only. Don't use X or reddit for identification, it's the Boston marathon bomber case all again.

There is no evidence any of the teleprompters were hit and that Trump was sprayed with broken glass. There is plenty of evidence Trump, and many innocent bystanders, were hit with a barrage of bullets.

Public office incites violence by preying on vulnerable citizens who are angry and feel disenfranchised. Unfortunately comments like this further the divide in the US and could certainly/will lead to more violence.

Democracy is no longer about civil disagreements but rather rage and hatred towards your rival. Trump certainly ushered in a new era of anger based on his rhetoric, but this goes far beyond what is acceptable.

At some point politicians have to be accountable for their words especially when they lead to violence. The fact that a US Congressman accused the current president of orchestrating an assassination attempt with zero facts should result in consequences. The fact that it won't describes the current temperature of American politics.

Denouncing violence from both/all sides is exactly the opportunity such an event provides and they should jump on it.

Any public figure using it to leverage further hatred deserve a special place in hell. That's how you manifest civil war/unrest.

Butterfly effect moment... 2 inches between "assassination" and "attempted." In this outcome, the next 4 months are chaotic but probably similar to what we were in for anyhow. In the alternative, the GOP is thrown into finding a new candidate, and who knows what else. In this timeline (the "attempted" one), I may be anxious about USA 2025-29, but I have a feeling for what it'll look like. If that whiff of cow fart hadn't distracted the shooter, I'd have no idea what to expect!

In a similar vein as the US ceases to be a democracy in the next 3 or 4 years remember for almost all its history until the mid sixties it wasn't a democracy then either, nothing strange about vast numbers of coloured Americans being disenfranchised
