Kind of scummy.

I am unsurprised that this is considered a priority of the UCP and it’s supporters. Like, can you not just admit it’s dumb and not defensible?

No, your actions, the people you support, and your position on this subject are doing all the talking.
You may not believe yourself to be anti-trans, but your position is anti-trans, and hiding it behind “protecting women” is not only absurd, it makes it clear that you don’t take the protection of women seriously, either.

Not anti-trans. I know it would fit you narrative if I was. But I’m not.
Some more reading material.
I’m not hiding behind anything.

The Daily Mail? Oh come on.
Your position has been anti-trans, and you're trying to soften it by talking about protection from the general population and post-op rapes being a significant problem so much so that trans persons require segregation.
You say you're not anti-trans, but you're making about as much diplomatic sense as blue lives matter.

My face is a bum!
|
4% of the population is gay.
0.3% is trans.
Being a tax hating Albertan looking for efficiencies, I think the clear bang for our buck here is build solitary confinement facilities for the gays. Did you know that gay people get arrested so that they can score some easy sex for the mere tradeoff of a 10 year prison sentence? We need to protect the straights!
Next on the list is turning hockey into a 1 person sport rather than a team. It's not acceptable that the gays are joining team sports just to cop some cheap thrills in the shower.
It's Un-Albertan, and I won't stand for it! Save the straights, Daniel!

Maybe I don’t know much about how prisons work, but if you go and start raping your fellow inmates, don’t you just immediately get sent to a cell by yourself and get charged with a crime?

Do you read and critically analyze the sources you post to support your position? I ask because having read that article and knowing the source it doesn't support your position in nearly the way you likely want to believe it does.
Again, I am trying to believe you're an ally, but the way you express and then support your position is entirely underwhelming.

This is your problem right here. You somehow think a m to f trans person has some predisposition to raping women. Why the heck would that even be the case? It’s based on this conservative thought that all trans are some sort of predator and the reason they change is for some reason they can then prey in the sex they have changed to, it’s a disgusting accusation. Quite frankly they could be interested in men, or women, and it’s also incredibly unlikely that they are a rapist.
As others have pointed out there are men in prison who rape other men. There are women in prison who rape other women. There are also both men and women, lots of them who rape nobody.

In fact, we have shelters just to protect them from men when this happens. It's far, far, far, far (you could quite literally add a few hundred "fars" for effect here) more likely a man assaults a woman than a trans person. But I feel like the protection of women isn't the real issue here, is it? Why are you so concerned about the 1,348th biggest risk to women's safety vs all the others?

Agreed 100 percent.
This is why men aren’t in prisons with women. I can also understand why women would not be comfortable with m to f trans in prison with them. Now clearly, this is not the case with all trans people, but unfortunately, there has been cases of trans raping women in prison.

Do you know what a person who has transitioned to female is? A female. This isn’t some game of dress up so they can prey on women. They have done hormone therapy as a minimum and possibly had surgery. They are no greater risk than any other person in the prison to rape someone of the same sex.

See? You're so worried about the rape of women you choose to focus on trans inmates. Did you stop to consider that male guards are far, far, far, far (you get the point) more likely to assault female inmates?
I really want to know how and why the rape of female inmates by trans inmates became such a hot topic for you...

Tell me where I said guards aren’t far far far more likely to assault females than trans inmates.
Unfortunately, I’m sure it probably happens. If it happens once, that is one time too many. That would be a problem that needs to be solved, for the safety of the female inmates.
Trans also have raped female inmates. So, therefore, I can understand why female inmates would not want trans in prison with them.

And if they haven’t fully transitioned, there can be incidents, like this one.

Because your solution was to move all trans people to a segregated prison that would include your hypothetical rapist and leave all the women with the people more likely to sexually assault them.
“Protecting women” lol

So why are more systemic problems being ignored in favour of these fringe issues?
Why is this even an issue? Don’t all genders interact daily in society without the need to segregate them for fear of raping?
I think it’s kind of a case of projection with people who think it’s inevitable that a man and woman can’t be near each other without a rape occurring. Every situation is a potential rape.
Are you capable of being in the presence of a woman without raping her? If you were a prison guard in a women’s prison, would you just start raping inmates?
This is like when people were going Helen Lovejoy about universal change rooms and gender neutral bathrooms.

I think it’s mostly the bad people that get sent to prison.
