The Republicans (and their billionaire puppeteers) knows exactly what they're doing with this behaviour. They are intentionally trying to crash economies (their own, others internationally) so that they can buy up assets cheap on the dollar later (amongst other nefarious crap they think is important, including tax breaks for the wealthy, and removal of democratic and human rights).
Trump is just a useful idiot, the real/more concerning problems are behind the scenes. People should look to Republican funding for answers to where the real problem lies.

I think it's really important for Canadians not to conflate "ignorant" with "dumb" at a time like this.
Most Americans are ignorant of how the world works beyond their borders and how America exists within that framework. Many of the responses describing interactions in this thread are more describing ignorance rather than stupidity. Which is why even though it's literally your lunch that Trump is trying to eat, it's important to respond to Americans you come across offering up information and education as to the international reactions they are noticing to Trumps actions. Even many MAGA voters are still hard working, reasonably intelligent people who really didn't know how these policy initiatives would affect the world and the second and third order impacts on the US. If you want to snap some of those MAGA people out of it, it's key on a personal level to not turn your interactions into a 4 nations hockey game between Canada & the US.
Understand "turning the other cheek" and educating isn't how most people are feeling towards American people right now, but long term Canadian sovereignty will need at a minimum a working peaceful relationship with the US. Measured counter-tariffs aimed at stimulating potential off-ramps for de-escalation, sure, but inflammatory emotional responses like cutting off electricity (Which can actually lead to deaths directly in the NE US if you think about hospitals and emergency services going without power or with brown outs for a period of time) has the ability to turn many people in the US against Canada on a more personal level and actually push enough sentiment to embolden Trump to go further.

CBC and CTV sticking with Doug Ford while Pierre is in a small box with a "we'll update you on this later".
Ouch.
To be fair, Doug Ford isn't holding back.

Donald isn't going to like the verbiage and it was said like that for a reason.

I think we saw the same thing when Kenney said he'd step down. It's like a switch flips "I don't have to be beholden to anyone or cater to any base, now I can just do the job."

He's on now. Slipping in a lot of digs at the Liberals, which I suppose is to be expected because a) Pierre, and b) election coming. But I do feel that it is taking away from his attempt at being "Captain Canada".
Some will lap it up, but I do feel that Pierre and the conservatives are backed into a corner. They can't be seen as agreeing with Trudeau, but also need to try and stop their slipping support. I think that they are missing the mark on both.

To the people that get up early and work physical jobs you are worried, but Canada was already broken but don't worry I'll fight for you. We can't let politicians use this crisis.
Neat message there bud.

PP is losing ground quickly and its tough to watch. Hard to believe the Liberals had any chance months ago but I think they will come out victorious now. Its really been a perfect storm for them. They have been basically given a clean slate and a platform to do what any other party and leader would have done and wave the Canadian flag.
Its hard to conceive the Liberals being able to do any more damage to this country than they have already done but I guess we will soon find out.

And this is exactly why the polls are tightening.
Canadians don't want to hear PP attack the Liberals, Canadians want to hear him stand up to Trump.
