Notice that Steve Staios has been moved up to the Oilers front office.
Fun fact, Staios' last NHL goal was with the Flames against the Oilers, capping a 3 goal comeback (Flames won in SO) in March 2011 to keep Flames playoff hopes alone(Oilers were predictably already eliminated).

Not a single media member in Calgary writing about any of the glowing predictions made about the Flames.
We all knew that ... but still has to be pointed out.
Such an odd market.

Oilers media uses the MAGA playbook. Keep spewing enough utter BS until their fan base absolutely believes it to cult like extremes.

It's by design as the Oilers organization have been selling false hope for decades now through media that has been bought and paid for. I mean sure they have a chance at winning the cup like a lot of teams but they are really trying to sell to fans they are a frontrunner.

Let's put these odds into prospective and you'll see how ludicrous they truly are:
First let restate them as a percentage:
Avalanche: 37.5%
Oilers: 25%
East: 21.4%
Rest of the West: 16.1%
What we know for sure, that a team from the East and West will make it to the finals... and for all the teams from the East to only have slightly above 21.4% combined is just not looking how odds are made. When assigning odds.... you may give one Conference slightly better odds then the other, but to give one 78.6% vs 21.4%, that's just a break with reality. Tampa Bay is in the east, a team that has been to the finals 3 years in a row and who has won 2 of those, to have them ranked way below Edmonton is ridiculous. Not to mention Toronto, Boston, Florida, Washington, Carolina, Pittsburgh and both New Yorks - it's just crazy to think they all must share that 21.4% odds. And the rest of the West at 16.1%, that's just as crazy when you consider that last years Pacific leading, Calgary, as well as St. Louis and Minnesota must share those odds.
Odds need to be more balanced, especial east and west when one of each makes the finals, and I know I'm preaching to the sane here, but the fact that people in Edmonton just doesn't understand this concept is breathe taking (maybe not considering Edmonton)... but what happens if Conner McDavid gets injured sometime during the season, and I would think the odds of that happening are far greater then them winning the Cup.... Does that 25% consider that - and if the injury is of considerable length or stretches into the playoffs, that would have a huge impact on that team, far greater then any other injury on any other team, if Colorado lost MacKinnon for the entire season, I would still give them fairly goods odds of making the playoffs, If Edmonton lost McDavid - I'd rank them near the bottom of the league for making the playoffs.
Every year.... at the beginning of the season, the Edmonton media has the Oilers lifting the cup, no wonder the fall is so devastating to them and let the jersey toss begin when the stars don't align perfectly.

Another thing I've noticed is if TSN/Sportsnet/NHL or another news page on social media page posts "Who is going to win the West this year?" for engagement, anyone doesn't say "The Oilers" Oiler fans are so fast to get into arguments with people that pick Colorado/Calgary or another team.
"Haha what a stupid pick. The Avs lost their #2C and more while the Oilers improved their goaltending and Holloway is making the step onto the opening day roster!"
"Haha do you remember what happened to the Lames when we met in the playoffs or have you dumb Calgary fans forgot already?"
Way more so than any other teams fans in the league. It's shocking really. They need to see every random person on social media claim the Oilers are the top team out west or else they feel so insecure that they need to attack said person for having a different opinion.
Fragile fans.

Canucks, Kings and Ducks are all better. If Vegas can get back to form the Oilers are delusional if they think it's another cakewalk year.

I wish I knew Staples personally. He seems like the perfect guy to make some bets against. You just know he’d keep coming back for more too.

From our poor mathematics, incorrect analysis, tv watching friend, here is the Staples verdict on putting janmark on waivers:
2. With the great play of Dylan Holloway, and other veterans like Devin Shore and Derek Ryan known to the coaches as responsible two-way players, Janmark, a useful NHL role player, got beat out at forward. This is the killer interanal competition that Oilers GM Ken Holland has always talked about wanting on the Oilers. Holland has now got it. There are fights for numerous roster spots, and we’re now seeing some of the fall-out from that.
Read that closely. Killer interanal competition.
What passes for spellcheck in that Edmonton Jurinal paper?

I'm sorry but what? I've been saying that since the start of summer.
Remember not a prediction but a spoiler.
Woodcroft doesn't last the year because he demands that McDavid and Pisser play a two way game.
Campbell being Campbell and falling apart in the last half of the year like he did in Toronto.
Behind a horrible blueline. With a horrible bottom 6, and a Capcrunch
And a team destroying Evander Kane now with no limits due to a long term big money deal.
Yeah . . . . Me

Also, the move is so clearly a cap move It was him or Ryan or a 20 man roster. Why do they have to try and spin every thing the team does as some intense power move? It reeks of insecurity so large it can be seen (smelled?) from space. That would be like when the Flames lost Richardson on waivers last year, local media putting out an article claiming that it's actually part of Tre's strategy against Vancouver. It's nauseating.
Inter-Anally Indeed.
