No doubt in my mind that this will be the deathstroke of Pulju's NHL career if he returns to the gulag. McDavid was the one who didn't want to play with him, and I doubt that has changed. Confidence will be crushed, development smothered, and Jesse will be back on a plane to finland by mid season.

Maybe McDavid was given the choice between playing with Kassian or Puljujarvi next season.
I don't think that he retires but dependings on the surgery and the results from it, I don't think it is unreasonable to think that Klefbom eventually goes onto LTIR. They are really counting on Broberg and Bouchard to step up quickly and play in top 4 roles because if they don't... they are in big trouble on the backend. Which seems par for the course on that team.
His contract was back loaded so he has more than his cap hit left on his deal, not a chance he gives up that $14M.
I agree, no chance of retirement. It is just funny to see them twist and turn themselves.
What I am curious about though are the relative timelines. Why just now considering surgery that will keep him out an extended period? Why not as soon as the season ended? Why was he also considering never entering the bubble?
To me it seems like Souray like situation repeating. Injury occurred, team doctors/ coaches / management pressure klef to play anyways (probably "home playoffs" being uttered) and klef did it in spite of his better judgment. Now he's regretting that.
Oilers are a #### organization who do #### things to players. Let's never let them forget that.

Some decent Schadenfreude to be had over at H foil.
They are speculating that Klefbom may retire...
Lol he should get a second opinion from more competent doctors than what are provided by Edmonton. This is dripping of Souray vibes to me.
Schadenfreude or still Chiadenfruede? Because Chiadenfreude is such a classic that it should be grandfathered in all subsequent iterations of the E=NG canon.

As far as Klefbom goes, it will all be pretty clear after the media gets their direction on how to frame this situation from Lowe and Co.
If they want him gone, the snarky stories marginalizing his and the teams (already putrid) defensive stats will first come out. Then whispers of an attitude with other players or the press comes next. Then, scolding him about greed, and taking money remaining in his contract without living up to it, and twisting it into him choosing money over being a team player, will have the mouth breathers that follow said press, on cue, dipping their torches once again into the cauldron, ready to march destroy all baby furniture Oscar may have in his home.
The press doing the clubs dirty work in the kangaroo court of public opinion happens every single time in advance of a player, coach or GM who is in the crosshairs to be exited from Edmonton, when the issue always lays much higher.

Bouchard isn't the uber prospect that the Oiler fans hoped for, and Some Oiler fans think that Broberg isn't a tier one prospect.
Expecting two rookies to step into top 4 roles is indeed wishful thinking.

Not that the Flames are the gold standard of hockey these days, but compare the way they handled the Tkachuk injury to the Oilers standard operating procedures. The Flames desperately missed Tkachuk's services but still chose to put his long-term personal health ahead of that and sat him out. It sucked as a fan but I'm proud of how they handled that.

Things are believed to be intensifying in Arizona on the OEL front, however, unless something changes, the Oilers have been told they’re not on the short list of teams OEL will waive his trade protection to go to.

This should really be the first question asked by the Oilers before any negotiation begins.
Edmonton is no good.
