Surprising to see Hayes go to the Rags as they are pretty full at his position but a young guys chance to live the dream in the big apple makes sense. Best of luck to him.
Says the guy who thinks Brett Sutter and his 54 games played in the NHL is a decent NHL hockey player. Thank god you are not part of Flames management, to state that Brett Sutter is a decent NHL player definitely qualifies someone as a completely ignorant hockey mind at a bare minimum. I would never attack you and call you a terrible poster or anything just someone who knows nothing about hockey.

You would be a better poster if you tried to resolve the conflict and refocus the conversation back towards Kevin Hayes. No one cares which of you two is the worse poster; stop derailing discussion please. Take it to PMs if you still feel the need to defend your internet pride.

and then what? Why are you here? It's just a thread link on the front page, among many other thread links. Some of which haven't seen a new post in days.

What would this thread dying personally do for you? For those participating, it would take away literally one of the only actual hockey discussions going on right now.

I never get you guys that wish for this. It just makes zero sense. I could see if Photon came on and said "If there's more than 5 active threads in the FOI forum at any given time, we'll randomly delete one!".

THEN, I'd be on you side, because maybe we lose some other great thread. But that doesn't happen. So instead of coming into threads like this and complaining....

Just say this one thing with me;

"I will not click on threads I do not like"

"I will not click on threads I do not like"

"I will not click on threads I do not like"

"I will not click on threads I do not like"

"I will not click on threads I do not like"

Lot's of angry on this thread. Apart from a few cranks that like to put words in people's mouths or misinterpret what folks are saying, I thought this thread was pretty balanced.

Folks were keen to get another piece for free, legit questions about why the hold out, and then some puzzlement over the team picked.

This will be an interesting guy to follow, especially if some generic dude gets career numbers playing RW on a line with Johnny.

I actually tend to think that Hayes' decision is incredibly risky. I think the key is to become a common enough contributor on a starting roster. Look how many guys play a few games and then, never again. Watching the Flames this last year and a bit has really hit home to me just how many guys are trying to make the NHL and just how bloody difficult it really is. For every 1 amazing prospect, and I'm sure Hayes is, there are 4-5 guys where the difference in skill is probably not that big. A prospect has to get lucky, and hope that he gets legitimate icetime to impress.

Is that going to happen in New York? I'm not convinced Calgary was the best option for him either. Where would have been the best chance to become a true NHL player? What system would fit his style of play best? That's what he should have been focused on, not where is close to home or what city has the best night life or sex appeal which is what I am assuming was part of the draw to New York.

Calgary's got a thousand prospects... making the Flames might not have been as easy as one thinks. Nashville? I dunno. But the Stanley Cup finalists? Yeah, good luck cracking that squad.

Congrats to Kevin Hayes on signing with @NewYorkRangers_ Thought for SURE you were going to @NHLFlames with your @BostonCollege teammates!
Even Feaster thought he would sign with the Flames. Someone should tweet this at Kevin Hayes, make him feel like he screwed up by signing with the dirty rags haha. Everyone figured Calgary would've been his best choice but oh well.

This is Feasters real account, he just recently joined. Probably in part due to his new position with the Lightning.

Because NYC is NOT Rockford, Illinois...where he would be playing for the IceHogs...

I mentioned before, 'Hawks have some NHL ready Wings and with Kane, Hossa, Smith, and Versteeg, with no cap space unless Versteeg gets moved, Hayes was highly unlikely to get any ice time, with the big club.

If he can get top six ice time with the Rags, then more power to him...

But, dominating on a good line in College is no firm predictor of NHL success...this guy, Hayes, was a Baker finalist, the 'Hawks have a Baker WINNER, toiling at the Rock, waiting for his chance...any playing time guarantees, if that what he was waiting for, would be unfair to better prospects in the system.

Personally, I don't think his skating is good enough for the NHL, and he seems ill suited to an "energy" role...a lot of draft picks are misses anyway, so there is little lost to my 'Hawks here...a 1st pick in round 3 is a bit of a re-do, and the 'Hawks have been better than average in finding mid to late round talent.

Chalk up another notch on the repeatedly argued point on this board that smaller market Canadian teams are not desirable destinations for UFAs.

I am pretty sure the bitterness is the hypocrisy of those latter positions. It is too bad he did not sign in Calgary, I thought he was a good prospect to start and still think he is a good prospect. 6'4 wingers who put up 65 points in the NCAA do not come along everyday.
Dah. Thx for stating the obvious. It's just part of the grieving process. I'm guessing you have never been dumped before. Of course it would have been nice to add him to the prospect pool and most were hoping for that outcome but now hes just on the poop list.

"Grieving process"?

Are you serious?

Now that Hayes has been signed we can get back to obsessing about Sven. We have to have something to tide us over until training camp or some real news (trades, etc.).

I was contemplating whether or not I should use green or white text, but yeah that is what I was getting at. I also think when all is said and done Jankowski will be similar if not better than Hayes.
