Not at these salaries. Reyes is always injured. I can understand picking Reyes up when the Jays did cause 2013 and 2014 were relatively cheap at 26 million total and if things worked well then you could stomach the 22 million in 15, 16 and 17. But for a team to jump in now and get Reyes for 3 years 66 million and Buerhle at 1 year 19 million would be insane.

Reyes
2013 - 10 mill
2014 - 16
2015 - 22
2016 - 22
2017 - 22

Buehrle
2013 - 11 mill
2014 - 18
2015 - 19

Wow Jays are a frustrating team....

Line up has way to many holes (same issue all season... yet the club did crap all, other then waiver players), Jays are injury prone (is it the turf, or players...)

Lots of tough decision need to be made ... is AA the correct GM, players like Lawrie (does he need to go)

Their record with and without Lawrie suggests he isn't the problem. I do windey about the turf.

The turf frustrates me to no end. I think a great deal of the Jays' injury history has to do with it. It absolutely baffles me how the interests of a secondary tenant in the Argos trump the needs/best interests of the Jays. Now, I acknowledge that I'm heavily biased here ... my love of the Jays eclipses my concern for the CFL by orders of magnitude, but still. I think you could make a strong business case for Rogers ponying up some money to help build the Argos a new home, with the assumption that less injuries from awful astroturf = more wins = more playoff dates = greater attendance = more $$$. Of course, I'm not a businessperson, so what do I know. Man, I really dislike the Argos.

In an attempt to improve the playing surface in the Rogers Centre before natural grass is installed in 2018, the Blue Jays are refurbishing the current AstroTurf by replacing the infill layer in order to soften the turf. Infill is basically artificial soil, giving the turf a bounce, assisting with drainage, and supporting the vertical plastic blades. The process is expected to be complete by the time the club returns for their Friday, April 4 home opener against the Yankees. Although I noted rumours of a new turf arriving this year, the current plan is to have the Blue Jays play on the refurbished field for the 2014 season only, as a brand-new artificial surface will be purchased installed for use in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons.

The Toronto Argos have signed a deal to stay at Rogers Centre until the end of 2017 season but must leave after that, clearing the way for the Blue Jays to get a grass field.
I assumed it was common knowledge the Jays were getting a grass field in a few years and that the Argos will be leaving. This has been old news for a while. I am looking forward to a grass field, less injuries, and more players wanting to come to Toronto to play. I've heard it is one of the major setbacks in Toronto being able to sign free agents.

Yes, thank you - my response was indeed poorly worded. I'm aware that they plan on installing turf, but my question/protestation/complaint is that it has taken this long. Why have the needs of the Argos been considered for so long? Why is it 2018 when they'll get turf (yes, I know the process takes time and they need to do studies and such)? Anyway - just ranting, I guess.

My guess is that they are contractually obligated to the Argos until the end of 2017 in which case there would be no point incurring the costs of a grass field just to have it torn up by the football team.

I know the baseball purists wouldn't like it but I would like to see the regular season games reduced and increase the playoffs to the top 6 or 8 teams in each conference. Also, make all playoff rounds 7 game series for each round.

What happened to the movement on Dickey's pitches?

Ball doesn't have the unpredictable movement it had with the Mets.

Damn. Jays need to start to string some wins together. Can't be blowing 2 run leads in the ninth. Hopefully the bats can get this back.

Everyone but Oakland has had ups and downs. If nothing else Nathan makes the 9th exciting.
