Happy retirement. I hope Bingo gave you an awesome pension. For the mental strain you guys have to deal with including myself I hope at least you got a trip to Disney out of it.

Jay wasn't in a timeout. Jay was at the supermarket. But hey, I give you zero credit for trying.

What I’m most tired of are the “then go cheer for another team” comments.
Tired of complaints? Some of us are equally tired of the “go grab Eichel!!”/anti-rebuilders.
Seeing the same scenario play out, and having the same 5-7 year rebuild cycle unfolding in front of your face, is exhausting. So excuse the frustration/lack of resilience that spills out when the team is at the most frustrating phase of this cycle.
And no…won’t go cheer for another team. This whole being a fan thing is a life sentence.

In this years draft, I see a lot of chance and parity in the players past the #10. I have an idea for a trade between two teams with different needs and expectations. Calgary has to take some chances in order to improve. In my mind that means acquiring some high risk/high reward assets. Minnesota has already gone down that route, and are more in a position to augment through more proven players.
To Calgary
Ivan Lodnia (RHRW, natural scorer with defensive game that's rounding in. Needs a year in the AHL, but could be a callup.)
Ryan Hartman (RHRW, prototypical thirdliner. Sutter player.)
#22
#26
2022 2nd (that becomes a first if the Wild reach the finals)
To Minnesota
Sean Monahan
#12
Via Pronman, the Flames picks would be Fabian Lysell and Oscar Olausson.
Via Wheeler, the Flames picks would be Corson Ceulemans and Mackie Samoskevich.

Flames give up the best player and the best pick in that deal.

Indeed they do, sir. That's where the high risk comes in. The only way that the Flames come out ahead in a trade like that is hitting on one of the two first rounders. I'm not sold on the players at #12 being a sure thing. I also like Lodnia, as the sort of player that is not currently in the Flames system.

Definitely risky.
The value is classic, I mean if you break it down into two trades it's classic value.
Monahan for 1st, lesser player, prospect
12th for 22nd and a 2nd the following year
I just think Monahan is worth more than that despite his down season(s).
He's still just 26, a center and has averaged 30/30/60 for his career so far.

It won't help. Some posters are still saying he is certain to foul up UFA signings, even after Tanev and Markstrom. I cannot imagine anything this franchise could do that would make the toxicity of CP go away.

Winning is fun and makes everything better in fandom.
1 playoff series win in the salary cap era, and just missed the playoffs with the current core all in their primes.
It's not really surprising that a large chunk of the fan base is seriously jaded right now.

Winning or a reasonable direction. Absent of both it is a spirit killer.

So if the team wins the Stanley Cup, the complainers will lay off?
1. I doubt it. Some people here will keep on complaining about all the years from 1989 to XXXX until the day they die, just as a lot of Oiler fans can't let go of the 80s.
2. It frankly shouldn't take that much, because any rational person should be able to recognize that even the best team needs luck to win a championship.

There will always be "some people" who complain no matter what.
If the Flames win a cup, or even build a legit contender for once the overall mood of this board would improve dramatically and you know it.
For me, I agree, to win a cup you have to be lucky as well as good. I'd settle for the Flames just being good as a starting point. They are supposed to be at the apex of their latest rebuild right now with the current core, but instead they have backslid for two seasons right out of even being a playoff team.
That is going to make a lot of Flames fan complain, me included, and we have every right to do that.

Wait a second, if they win the cup, everyone will be happy. We don't expect that, it's unrealistic, just maybe more than 1 playoff win in 15 years lol. You're acting like they're a perenial playoff team that wins a couple rounds every year.
Win something, not everything...just something.

Actually, I don't know anything of the kind. I've been here 16 years, and there seems to be a one-way ratchet effect. Any setback in the team's fortunes immediately makes the forum worse, but no improvement by the team ever seems to be enough to make it better.

I'm acting like I'm fed up with the constant toxicity and blaming people for things that haven't even happened. Treliving is going to trade X! Fire him! Treliving is going to sign Y! Fire him! Treliving is going to say Z! Fire him! Fire him! Fire him! Fire Murray Edwards! Fire everybody!

Many posters have made it clear that the only thing they will be satisfied with is, indeed, everything. This board's mascot should be Veruca Salt.
