- Weak RD market with lots of interested teams, most of those teams have LD available but not extra Cs
- Pending UFA willing to sign a contract, maybe??
- Division rivals making a trade that could seriously influence the division for years to come
I do not think very many GMs would be able to pull the trigger.. but after trading Zegras, I think Verbeek would actually consider the trade in order to win playoff games this season.

I just want to point out how much good coaching truly matters. The Ducks are a prime example of what I am talking about.

When you factor in the return we will get for players like Kadri and Coleman, and also that trading them helps the 1st round pick it is a no brainer.
Of the 3 players, if I had to keep one I would actually keep Andersson. He is the youngest, so at least you could make an argument for keeping him. The other 2 have got to go.

Personally I have no idea why you would keep Kadri. Unless the only offers are pure garbage but I can’t imagine they would be.
Makes absolutely no sense to keep any of Andersson, Coleman, or Kadri really.
I actually think this is really simple. I bet the Flames do too, and it’s all public process related stuff. You can’t come out and say what you’re doing, that would be idiotic.

Yeah if we don’t trade Kadri we are going to be kicking ourselves in the next few years. (Unless we miraculously make the playoffs)
Great player but I’m ready to capitalize and sell high and keep adding the youth.

If Andersson, Kadri and Coleman are not traded by the TDL, I would dump Conroy in the same file as the wizard….useless

Andersson yes, but the other two have term left so no need to get carried away here. And this is coming from someone who wants them all dealt as soon as a good offer comes in.

And then if Blake is still here to start next year - he is gone by next deadline.
Odds that all 3 go between now and next deadline: 75%

Those are smart odds.
I think the concern a lot of people have is that Kadri and Coleman take age-related steps backwards next year and you get much less for them. Is 2/3s of a lost season worth the risk of getting substantially less next year?
I am 50/50 on it. I still want to see good hockey this year and losing all three would really decrease the likelihood of enjoying the next 50 games.
But if moving them gets us more star power - to go along with the exciting prospects we already have, as a fan I could live with it.

Coleman screams deadline acquisition for me. This year or next. He’s not the typical type of player teams are targeting in the offseason so I’d say low probability that he’s moved if he lasts past the deadline.
Kadri is complicated no matter when you do it. Heading into his age 36 season isn’t the easiest sell if they decide to do it in the offseason. I’d wager his value will never be higher so would be inclined to say do what you can to sell him this year at the deadline or before.

Haven't you been saying this since you made your account? Kadri is one of those few players where his play style translates well. He's a play driver, gritty, agitates, can score and pass. I don't think his play will drop off any time soon.

Redwings could really use Andersson. Too bad he got hit by the car there. Bad mojo for him probably

People tend to exaggerate how much the absence of veteran players impacts the growth of younger teammates. The fact of the matter is that it's nearly impossible to move all the veterans. Huberdeau will be on the team forever. Same goes for Weegar, Sharangovich, and Bahl. Guys like Wolf, Coronato, Frost, and Farabee will be veterans before you know it.
They shouldn't keep Kadri for veteran leadership reasons. The value of this, if any, is heavily outweighed by the assets that would be returned via trade.
And the Flames have plenty of prospects and draft picks. What they really need is multiple top picks. Elite talent is required for special teams and overtime in the modern NHL. Trading away players is the best way to accomplish this.

I don’t know, do they? Do you have some evidence of that one way or another?
And is the only pre-requisite of veteran leadership just having been around a while? All veterans are created equal? Just about anyone can/does provide good leadership?

If I want veterans around to show the young players how to be a good pro and give a consistent effort, Sharangovich is about the last guy I want to keep.
By the way, Lyle Richardson of Spector's Hockey pours cold water on the rumours connecting Tristan Jarry to the Oilers:

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Penguins continue to rebuild…er, sorry, retool their roster by transitioning younger players into the lineup. However, a chance at reaching the playoffs is a great way to keep your players motivated and your fans invested.

Someone needs to tell him that the Penguins are doing it all wrong by not selling their veterans and tanking the season on purpose.

Most of our roster is filled with veterans. We do not need Kadri.
