I'll be very upset if we do not trade Kadri. Opportunities like this only come around so often. You have a vet player almost 40 years old playing out of his mind, and you know the play will drop off soon.
It is also rumored he would be worth a ton on the market. For a rebuilding team, not trading him this off season would set the rebuild back possibly years. When you factor in the return we will get for players like Kadri and Coleman, and also that trading them helps the 1st round pick it is a no brainer.
Of the 3 players, if I had to keep one I would actually keep Andersson. He is the youngest, so at least you could make an argument for keeping him. The other 2 have got to go.

LOL. Talk about exaggerating to make your point. He's 35 and 2 months. He's almost 50!

Good Christ. He turned 35 two months ago...
Just a recommendation, but drop the hyperbole and your points will come across much better.

The thing is the point still stands using 35. No reason to say 40. The odds of Kadri getting better post 35 are pretty much nil. The Flames should sell high. Kadri has an ultra high compete level, is a proven playoff performer, and is playing out of his mind.
He's go 4 years left. Likely 2 great ones (including this year) and 2 still contributing ones.

Just a thought.
Some considerations;
- Flames had interest in acquiring a LHS D this past offseason, Byram reportedly being one of them.
-Age and contracts are close
-Farabee’s from Western NY. May be one of the few to would like to play for the Sabres.
-Flames have a glut of middle six wingers.
Not suggesting I would necessarily do it but I think it’s with the realm of being possible. I know a lot of folks here don’t like Byram but, again, the Flames were reportedly interested.

The Flames certainly do not need to rush Kadri out the door, they should be setting a high price and teams can either meet that or not. He’s certainly not hurting the Flames youth movement and also seemingly loves the city and has a great relationship with the GM. All of these things mean if we do end up trading Kadri it will be for a package that will be significant as it should be. Kadri also seems to be one of those players that isn’t plateauing as he’s aging, not unlike Pavelski, if we didn’t trade Kadri this year I still think a good deal could be had for him the following year, he’s playing incredible hockey right now and doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all.

Kadri is playing some great hockey right now.
I do wonder how sustainable that is as he goes into his late 30s.
It would be ideal to sell high on him.

For sure, so long as that price is met.
I think a blue chip, 1st and solid young roster player is a fair ask for a player of Kadri’s caliber who as recently as last year had a career high in goals and is still producing at a top 6 clip. Being a center obviously makes him that much more valuable and the fact that his 7 mill cap hit for a few more seasons now isn’t so expensive looking with the cap going up and up. The flames should be asking for the moon and this one and should move him for nothing less.

My odds are 95% probability Rasmus goes before the deadline
50% odds that Rasmus + 1 of the others go before the deadline
25% odds that all 3 go before the deadline.
If only Rasmus goes, I think there is high probability that one of the other two goes in the summer.
And then if Blake is still here to start next year - he is gone by next deadline.
Odds that all 3 go between now and next deadline: 75%

It's like people submit to the brutality of time around then and start rounding up, even if they're closer to mid-30s. Well men at least.
I remember when I perused the apps seeing a suspicious number of ladies advertising themselves as 35 when they were distinctly, er.. menopausal in appearance.
I don't know who they were expecting to fool, but they certainly were trying.

I wish people would round up for height.
Rounding down for height and rounding up for age ain't helping this short old guy!

And he is our Coleman replacement. He is 25, and you have to ice a team every year.
Farabee is not a problem that needs fixing.

When it comes to Kadri he really isn't blocking someone in the system that needs a shot.
Coleman is in a sense since the Flames do have a lot of young wingers who need to get serious looks.
Rasmus obviously is blocking Parekh and Bruz if the team truly thinks they are ready for the jump.
My guess is that the guys who are blocking the paths are the guys that go first. If someone gives you a offer for Kadri that is too good to turn down then you obviously take it. However I'm not trading Naz just to trade him.

Good news is I’m on the flight back and can get more regular updates.
Bad news is the sunburn.
Pat’s information sounds pretty close, I just think Kadri moves before Coleman, way more interest out there, just need the good offers, not just inquiries.

It’s not that Andersson isn’t a nice piece. But without term (and Andersson seems certain to go to market unless he winds up in Vegas or maybe Dallas), it’s just not the sort of deal a team in Anaheim’s position makes.
|
The Ducks are looking for a #1RD, specifically. - Canucks could offer Hronek - but he has a full NMC.
- Flyers could offer Drysdale, but the Ducks traded him to the Flyers.
- Bruins have McAvoy - full NMC and not going to be traded (they are actually looking to add a RD and were rumoured to want Andersson over the summer)
- Islanders do not have a RD worth comparing to Andersson
- Blue Jackets were looking to acquire Andersson before they ran back their same D group as last season. No great comparables.
- I disagree that the Kraken would be wanting McQueen over Beniers, Stephenson, and Wright, especially with O'Brien now in the system (selected 2 spots ahead of McQueen). Also, their RD are older than Andersson with full NTC and arguably Andersson is better
Andersson is a better option than what those teams can offer with the caveat that they need to entice him to sign an extension.

While moving Kadri helps Team Tank, and would provide some shinny new toys, trading him is not all positive for the rebiggle.
If he is not moved, I think history will show that his presence had a big impact on some of our future core pieces development. Especially at C.
