I called and added myself to the waitlist at a store in Kelowna a couple weeks ago, the guy working there said it would be about 3 weeks to get my phone. I called back yesterday and asked someone else there where my name was now on the waitlist, and I was in the middle of page 5 and there were 8 pages total of 30 names per page with lots of people asking for multiple phones. They had gotten 5 phones in the past 16 days too, so maybe by Christmas.

So today I was in Vernon for work and had an hour to kill, wandered into a store that had one iPhone just come in and since he hadn't heard back from any of the waitlisted people he called earlier that day, he let me have it!!

Bye-bye 5 year old Blackberry 8703e!!

^^

Depending on how baldy one wants this phone, would they have luck in a smaller city? Or no?

My dad just got his iPhone4 from work, and a buddy of mine got one, I'd really like to pick one up soon. I'm on Rogers...

if you guys have your current plan, and call whatever company you have and get to retentions, you can do the normal where you tell them your having a hard time paying your bills and need help so that you can get your iphone upgrade, then take the order through them, 3-5 business days shipping

Head of mobile at the new Lethbridge Best Buy says he has quite a few in stock. More than the Desire and Vibrant combined, both of which have been tough to come by. Demand at this store has been HIGHER for the Galaxy S Vibrant than the iPhone 4, he claims.

Is there any way to get music onto my new iPhone if my mac is a couple years old? When I connect my phone to the computer a message comes up in iTunes saying "iPhone cannot be used because it requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later".

There has to be a way to get my music onto my phone. A friend of mine has an older mac with an older operating system and his connected just fine.

It’s right on the system specs page at apple.ca - 10.5.8 or higher is indeed required, along with iTunes 9.2 or higher.

I assume you’re running Mac OS 10.4.x - if so, you should be able to get that mac up to 10.5.x fairly easily, unless its positively ancient (eg. a sub-800 mhz PowerPC mac)

IIRC 10.5.8 can run on pretty much any Mac made since 2003 (other than a couple of G3 iBooks), so unless the computer is older than that, you should be able to get it running.

It is kind of stupid that it requires that since you can sync an iPhone 4 with Windows XP, which is even older than 10.4, but I guess it makes sense since you can still buy computers with XP on it whereas 10.4 has been dead for a few years now.

If your computer can support it, you can buy 10.6 for $29 and it'll install right on top of 10.4. It's also not hard to find a copy of Mac OS for free (off a friend or download it) and there's no copy protection or anything like that on it if your computer can only handle 10.5.

It should be able to handle it. I bought this Macbook in 2007.

Where can I get that upgrade for $29? I looked at the Apple online store and the only one I could find was if you have 10.5 you could upgrade to the new Snow Leopard but nothing that upgraded to 10.5.

It's actually $35, I was thinking of the US price. Here it is:

http://store.apple.com/ca/product/MC...co=MTc1MTEzNjY

Technically it's for upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6, but it's supposed to work from going from 10.4 to 10.6 as well (though I don't personally have experience with this myself, so I'd look into it more first). However, that does violate the End User License Agreement, so you'll have to decide if you're willing to do that.

I don't know, I know I'd be kind of miffed if I was expected to get a $100+ software upgrade on my 3 year old computer just to legitimately sync my phone, so I'd probably just download 10.6 off of a torrent and be done with it.

So are there actually phones available now or do people still have to line up at 7am to get one of these things?

How long is the delivery online from Apple? I picked up a 3gs a few months back, no contract, and I use it all over the world when I travel. Factory unlocked, and I just dump prepaid sims into whenever I go somewhere. Rogers can go eff themselves when my contract runs out next year. I'd recommend that to anyone.

I'll probably go to the 4 pretty quick here; 2 guys at work have them and they're pretty slick.

Luck of the draw. She walked into the store a minute after they received a shipment. Within 20 minutes there were a dozen people lined up behind her and all the phones were sold - they sent people away that also wanted a phone for the rest of the time she was there.

$750 I think. The whole frenzy is like how the Wii was selling as soon as stores got them. Supply and demand.

That is why the 'wait lists' that Rogers have are total bull. Why would they call you when they can sell it right away to a walk in?

I hear megapixels are really good, so a phone with 12 of them should be awesome.
