Inspiring youth of future generations and "pedigree" are two different things.
Girly - stop, lol. Iran hasn't got out of group stages because they haven't had good enough squads. Quality of players and quality of coaching staff are what determines the quality and success of the team, not some magical pedigree. I think you're confusing "expectations" with pedigree.
Brazil have expectations as a nation. Canada have expectations in hockey. We have the success because we have the Sidney Crosby's and Jarome Iginlas, not because we won the summit series back in the 70s.

Can we have less European teams? They bring nothing. Denmark, Switzerland, Serbia, Wales (Belgium, just kidding) etc...
They are just so dull. More spots for teams like Ghana and Korea and Canada who at least brought some excitement even if they don't advance
I guess we are getting that in 2026.

I want to see a "back half" World Cup, where all national teams in the bottom half have their own World Cup tournament. Gives some of the smaller/less talented teams something to work towards.

Denmark are a good side but they just have nothing going in attack this tournament.

I wish TSN would stick with the on pitch celebrations rather than going straight to their MOTM nonsense and ads

That would have been absolutely wild if that goal was to make the difference between advancing or not. That will be a hotly debated call.

Had Denmark put in one of their late chances, that VAR would have sent Tunisia to the knockouts instead of Australia.

Is that offside? Can VAR go back that far? That looked like 2nd phase to me.

I don't understand that call. I understand Griezmann to be offside when the ball was played into the box, but the Tunisian playing it off his head would negate that no? When does Griezmann become onside and able to play the ball?

I don’t know the exact wording of the rule, but it comes down to whether that was an intentional pass from the defender, or if it was just a block/deflection. That’s why the ref had a look at the replay, because it required interpretation.

Yeah, I think he pretty clearly came back onside and that shouldn't have been called. He didn't come back onside to receive a pass or anything and the defender heads the ball to him.
