YES PLEASE

I remember being in Pretoria for a wedding once and it was +43. It was getting a little too warm even for me.

I’ve been told they spend all their money flying to places that are exclusively exactly +30 degrees at all times.

We have family friends who live in Napa and I’ve experienced +40 more than a few times hanging out at their place.

It’s almost a surreal temperature, like opening an oven but across your entire body.

Was that before or after they annexed Joe's pool?

Sir. -5 on travelled roads leads to snirt, and it simply will not disappear thanks to that minus temperature. That is why +5, while still creating the dreaded snirt is superior since it will melt away. Come at me.

There's 2 "categories", it would appear. There's the way you body physically feels in a temperature, and then there's all the logistical issues brought about by a given temperature like bad roads, length of time to get dressed, flight delays, etc.

Everyone is answering based on category 1, and most have acknowledged and would agree with you that in -30, category 2 is worse.

I get that you're making me fun of me here, but of all the things I said this is easily the most verifiable. Caribbean/sun flying spikes for Canadians in the winter, and European/domestic flying is much higher in the summer.

I'm going to have to confirm this, let us delay our dual until warmer climes arrive.

All the WestJet flights at YYZ are cancelled for tomorrow and they aren't certain if operations will resume on Saturday. What a fricken mess. I feel bad for everyone impacted by this.

Half are cancelled here too, and YVR still hasn't recovered from their storm so it's a pretty bad time to be travelling across the country.

I really miss those +30 days when every flight didn't get cancelled.

OMG, lol. Don't worry, it's just people having fun, talking. If we "win" the weather battle, the weather won't change, buddy. Everything is okay.

BTW, since it's been brought up a few times, how did we get here. I'd like to point out that this is the post that got things going. Literally comparing "this" to +30. It ain't all innocence and coincidence that you and others started with -30 vs +30 and then brought it back to that after many had moved on to more reasonable temperature comparisons in the cold vs hot debate.

On a serious note, please don't come to YYC if your flight is showing as cancelled. We're trying to scrub as many flights as possible as early as possible to keep people home, but today will still be the worst day since pre-pandemic in terms of the number of people stranded here.

Everything is not okay here no, it's a gongshow. The temperatures in Alberta were the first dominoes for delays to ripple into YVR, now YYZ is going to get drilled today. Thousands are stranded here and they're angry than usual, it would seem.

We are on tenterhooks waiting to see if my son's flight from Vancouver takes off this morning. It's one of the few that has not been cancelled. As of right now, it does not appear to be snowing there, so other airlines may have been premature in cancelling flights. We'll see soon I guess.

Southern Ontario resident here. They’re now calling for 50 cm here, it was previously 30. Wind is wild, it’s sure picked up. Wouldn’t be surprised to see massive power outages soon, it seems this storm is gunna be a wild ride..

Just be thankful it’s not -30 for a few hours! You think massive power outages are bad caused by 50 cm of snow? Imagine your car having a little trouble starting!
