IF you follow the twitter thread you will see he said a lot of things and was wrong about it.

He had Danault to the Rangers and Getzlaf and Strome being traded. None of that happened.

I thought for sure the Rangers wouldn't even be considered for a trade. Didn't think the Sabres would trade him within the state.

Not the same division though.

Not sure if he's just making a joke with his former Spiderman NY goalie mask, or if he's actually suggesting he's heard something new. He's an analyst for the Rangers on MSG now.
Eichel himself just created his own Twitter account too….

Can't speak to the other two players but NHL Network radio had reported that the Kings outbid the Rangers for Danault. He was close to signing there.

So yeah, not a lock that Eichel goes to the Rangers but its still worth keeping an eye on.

Come on, Treliving! We can have nice things! We can have nice things! We can have nice things! Swoop in at the last minute and steal our elite center.

The truth is that one worry with Eichel is that he might not want to play in Calgary. He might want to play in NYC. If that's the case, its advantage NYR even though Eichel has no trade restrictions on his contract. This is because teams other than the NYR will be less excited to acquire Eichel and willing to offer less. That's how I see it.

It's more than that though.

They should have been in on ROR. The Blues got him for a bloody song.
They should have gotten Jumbo years ago. Nope, can't give up Regehr.

They have Savard and trade him away for a no name prospect that never even crosses the pond.

Draft Bennett 4th overall and he never develops in CGY for whatever reasons you want to believe. Meanwhile the Bolts get Brayden Point in the 3rd or 4th round.

They're in the race for Mackinnon and Barkov, nope win a bunch of meaningless games and get Monahan instead.

It's just so frustrating to never have that star elite #1C leading the forward group. Always building around wingers and flawed centers.

As far as trades go, the opposing GM has to say yes. That's not a slight against the Flames. They've been in on a lot of these guys and just didn't get across the line. They've been going in on those kinds of players since the shocking Brad Richards signing.

Better to try and fail than not try at all.

And aside from last year. Monahan has been a #1 center regardless of some opinions around here.

Let's not forget we almost had ROR before . But that's a whole.other can of worms lol.

If the Rangers acquire Eichel you have to think they can't afford to sign Zibanajed.

What are you arguing here? I don't get your point?

I want the Flames to have a prime aged elite #1C for once. It's exciting and a very important part of being an elite team.

No matter what the excuse is, they never get one.

That's all I'm saying and I don't know why you are quoting me and arguing and making excuses.

The Flames acquiring Zibs would be an amazing consolation prize. And thusly adding to little Stockholm.

I would honestly be equally as happy if he ended up a Flame

Zibanejad is just another centre in the same tier of centres we already have.

Over the last half decade Mika Zibanejad has shown he is not a play driving centre. His underlying numbers are no better than Monahan's (they're worse, actually).

I'd sooner just roll with Lindholm/Monahan/Backlund.

The Flames need to improve their quality of centre icemen, not just add another one. That's why Eichel is the perfect target.

I'm not arguing. I thought I was simply having a conversation.

We all want that superstar #1 C . I just don't think it has been from a lack of effort from the Flames aside from refusing to tank and try for a top pick.

If they don't get Eichel it won't be the end of the world.

I can’t see Zibanijad wanting to sign here. He’s a DJ and loves New York City type of lifestyle.

Given the timing it could be in order to post a "Thank you Sabres fans" type message once a trade occurs. I wouldn't be surprised if a trade is happening soon as a result of the timing of his new Twitter account.

That's right it won't be the end of the world.

They'll just plod along without an elite #1C like they always do, and more than likely continue to be decidedly average at best.

Exactly what I thought, and to say hi to his new team/city and connect with new teammates.

That or we’re going to see him making passive aggressive comments towards Buffalo.

We're also right on the brink of the most aggressive rehab schedule for his surgery if they're still aiming for him to return to the ice somewhere around the start of the season. The trade really should happen in the next week or so here.

There is also the rumored ask of $10M AAV on his next deal which he will be 28/29 when he signs it
