Just makes all the childish foot stomping by a few here that he wasn't fired (or should I say... it wasn't announced) within the 72 hours of the season ending they felt was necessary.
Hoping for a more established coach for next season. I think it's the right move

Yep before Christmas the season could have potentially been salvaged. I wonder if this was even kicked around, but no better candidates were identified.
Feel bad for the individuals losing their jobs, but the results just weren't there. Personally looking forward to Flames hockey again though.

I am kind of double posting this but why would Bill Peters even be considered? He has failed miserably at the NHL level and most guys wouldn't get a second chance after whiffing on 4 seasons in their first job. I posted in the other thread but he seems to be a perfect example of the peter principle.

Why this talk of Bill Peters? Can't see Treliving putting all his chips on a guy with 4 years experience as a HC, and no playoffs. As far as pedigree he's worse than Gulutzan.
Treliving has to know that this could be the last coach he will hire as GM of the Flames.

I think these people need to hold on, because they are going to get the ride they want when the roster starts getting a makeover.
This is just the first shoe to drop. It has to be. There are large problems in the makeup of this team, not just the coaches at the helm.

This is only the first step. The next step is to ensure they hire the right guy which has arguably been this organization's biggest failure over the past few decades. Good chance Treliving won't get another head coaching hire out of this organization.
