Not only that it could happen... Pressure from the bullet could blow materiel from the head out the back of the skull without the bullet actually leaving... Bullets also typically shred and very small fragments could create holes in the back of a skull. It would be very uncommon for a bullet to exit the skull, which has a lot of material, cleanly unless an overly high powered gun was used. Did people inspect those splatters for small bullet fragments?

FFS why does this show attract the most unbearable commentary. It's a TV show based on a comic book. Media generally has accepted departures from reality. For example people consistently getting knocked unconscious from a blow to the head. The odds of someone actually getting knocked unconscious from a single blow are low. People also won't take those kind of blows without serious long term consequences, ranging from post concussion syndrome to death.

Maybe that was one of Eugene's molten metal walkers with the crap all over it?

I wondered that, but his head looked normal, I think. And Eugene's all had it for head protection.

I was less nitpicky about it and more of the mind that it had become both boring and ridiculous, with very poor characterizations and dialogue. Like, it became bad in a very broad sense.

Jeez, no posts about last night's episode? Maybe TWD is losing the audience a bit?

I thought this episode was marginally better than last week's. Gregory cracks me up. He may become an entertaining comedic foil for Maggie and the rest of Hilltop as the season goes on. Also, there is a new baby - I like that addition - she should be well taken care of at Hilltop.

The fight scenes/shootouts were better paced and shot in my opinion. Not as much disbelief suspension this time around. I could have done without the Morgan vs Jesus bout though. Also, I can't believe Morgan didn't shoot that loud-mouthed Saviour prisoner. He has more restraint than I would. Anyway, see you later Morgan (hopefully).

The ending was not emotional at all for me. I'm guessing that Carol is ok and she is the only one that I really hope survives that shooting. I'm sure Ezekiel survived although I wouldn't miss him a bit.

So they brought Morales back from 7 seasons of being in the dark only to kill him off..... What's the point of bringing him back then.

Not much to talk about, a bunch of action scenes, and a heavily foreshadowed ending.

Morgan's character is a bipolar schizophrenic though. Hard to give a rats arse about him at all.

I've been a big fan of this show but with this season it all is just starting to feel tired. Same old plot directions with a slightly different story.

This show has lost its legs.

I agree, the show seems to be spinning its wheels right now and unsure of where it wants to go. Three straight episodes of action scenes, but no real plot development other than learning that Morgan has gone insane, Ezekiel is annoying, and that Daryl doesn't give a f***. If they're a Savior, shoot 'em!

Also, two episodes in a row without any screen time for Negan seems like an odd choice, given he's one of the best and most interesting characters on the show. I'm assuming they'll probably devote an upcoming episode to him and Gabriel in the trailer.

But yea, I'm starting to lose interest. Usually I'm pretty excited when I sit down to watch a new episode. But so far this season it's becoming more of a "ugh, ok, here we go" kind of thing.

He was a mirror for Rick. The title of the episode was "Monsters", and from my perspective it seems like Rick might start looking inward. The way he reacted after Darryl killed Morales and murdered the kid were pretty telling. He also seemed to reflect as he was taking pictures of the scene.

As an aside, I am assuming all those pictures are being taken for a Dexter-type Negan kill?

This season is moving fast with a lot of action, something we haven't seen for extended periods in TWD. While I believe some of the scenes are not shot well at all (the shootout at the gun outpost...confusing much?), it's been exciting. I'm more on board this season than I have for the past few.

Morgan's character is the most complex in the show so I can see why it's turning some people off, but for me he's the most compelling. Lennie James is one of the most talented members of the cast, and he is the perfect fit for a character like this. Morgan is completely fractured.

For a show that has only implied shades of grey in the past, we are seeing it shown overtly over the past 2 seasons.

Morales mentions to Rick that they have taken different but similar paths to the same point, but were separated only by a gun. That message resonated throughout the whole episode. Rick, Darryl, Carol, and Maggie have all suffered the same path, and believe they are righteous in what they do. Morales was rescued by the Saviors. Jesus, as a scout for Hilltop, was exposed to the world but sheltered just enough to believe in peace and humanity. Ezekiel has playing his part for so long that he can't break now, even though uncertainty overwhelms him.

Now Rick is starting to see monsters on all sides. Not even a "man's word" is worth anything in this world anymore.

So far I've been really enjoying this season while conversely my wife has been the opposite.

I can understand that long, drawn out shootout and gunfights are everyone's bag, even I have to admit they were a bit much and not all that well defined.

I'd have to say that the most compelling evidence of a downturn to me was that I really didnt care when Aaron's boyfriend died. Dont even remember his name.

But I do think there were other solid elements to this episode and that this season is really building towards a significant shift.

The show is literally following a pre-written story from the comic books. It knows exactly where it is going.

My main issue:

I get the show is trying to show the Rick (and Rick's group) is no different then Negan. Each group ended up where they are and believe the other is evil. Even the last episode showed a lot of killing by Rick's group.

However, the issue I think people have is, the last 2 seasons really should have been 1 season. No one really cares anymore that they are killing Saviors. We wanted 'some' of this action last year, and wrap up this story line.

Does anyone care about the Saviors anymore?

Negan, Rick, Daryl, and mustache awsome Negan guy (forget his name) should be dominating screen time. Instead we get extra's shooting each other for 3 episodes.

I realize that. But from the point of view of someone who doesn't read the comics, I find the show is really dragging so far this season. I agree with the above post that they could have probably wrapped up the Negan/Saviors story arc in one season instead of stretching it out over two. I still like the show, and there have been a few decent moments in these first 3 episodes, but to me it feels like the show is kinda treading water at the moment.

I'm sure it'll get a better, but man, these first few episodes haven't done much to maintain my interest level.

I mostly agree. I am not that crazy about Daryl these days though. He has become pretty one dimensional. I am hoping they don’t kill off Negan too soon. I like that they use him a little more sparingly. I think that’s why things kind of went of the rail for Morgan. He was a character you got excited to see once a season, but every episode has been a little much.

Daryl is one of the few characters that I get though. He was locked up in that cage. He sees what goes on in Negan's world. He feels responsible for Glen. His motivations make sense, and his actions reflect that. Sure, it is one dimensional right now, but at least it is logical.

I really disagree about compressing the last 2 seasons into one. The main point of the Negan Story arc is the shock from the initial attack by Negan and then what it takes to overcome that and rally against him. I'm not sure how you could compress that into one season.

The show has always worked at this kind of pace. It's not dragging anymore than it did when the group was in the prison or wandering around between the prison and Terminus. There's nothing special about this season. The only thing that's really changed is that there is less hype surrounding the show.

I think a big help would have been to have a strategy meeting at the start, with a map, a plan of "this team goes here, this team there" and we would know WTF is going on. They could still save lots of surprises, but it all just seems like random firefights right now. It's clear they have a plan, but at least some of it should have been shared with the viewer.

Maybe it's my geography side speaking, but show me a map! I want to know where these towns are, how the outposts are important etc. Otherwise it's just a bunch of shooting until they get to whatever it is the point is.

Sure, but has his character actually changed all that much from before and after that experience? There are glimpses of nuance to the character, but mostly he is singularly tracker in his agenda. I guess he's consistent at least. I kind of wish he would get teamed back up with Carol. They had an interesting, kind of psychotic dynamic going on.

Wow forgot about the new episode on Sunday. Pretty telling as to how this season is starting and I've historically been pretty forgiving of this show.

The second episode was just so amateurish and disjointed on so many levels that resorted to just having it on in the background.

I don't know why they think we give a crap about some of these poorly and vaguely developed peripheral characters it is nearly impossible to give a crap about to where we're following them for extended stretches of time. Hard to understand what's going on in most scenes until things are done happening and some dialogue provides the needed exposition.

Walking Dead is right.
