That level of laziness is glorious though. Now that I've gone digital, the thought of having to get up to put a disc in to play a game seems like the equivalent of climbing mount everest.
I want to Play NHL, get up, open case, put disc in Xbox, sit down, start game. No, rather play FIFA. Get up, eject NHL, put back in case, go get FIFA, open case, put disc into xbox.
Vs.
Go to home screen, launch game.

The last time I sold a bunch of games, do you know why I finally went and did it?
Not because I wanted to sell 'em off or trade them in, but because I was running out of room on my shelf and decided those games would be the ones I 'cut'. I would have happily kept them, to be honest, even just for the random "Hey I feel like playing 'insert older game here' today".
Digital essentially solves this issue for me. Yeah, it stops me from selling titles I regret buying, but again, I wasn't really inclined to do this anyway. I like the convenience more.

I can understand going digital for a game like NHL, but if I want to ensure that I'll be able to play a game that I love 10+ years from now, I need to have a physical copy.
Same goes with my favorite movies and TV series. I need to own it, not just to simply pay for access.

so they did the sep content update and i know see playoff game mode available (yawn). I didn't come across 3 stars or any update to HUT presentation, so not sure if i need to restart the game fresh or something.
I hate the new tuner btw. in online, they've brought back the super poke check, which i somewhat can agree with, but it has the negative effect of punishing passing too much. Now online is back to guys dangling/protecting puck with non-elite players as a means to get right in on goal to create offense. No point in passing the puck as it has a higher probability of going astray.
i don't understand ea's desire to make nhl games all about super dekes and dangles, when that is not apparent in the NHL almost at all, that's why when it happens it is a highlight reel moment. i enjoyed the game when it was about cycling and trying to set up a proper offense.
the makers of this game have no real vision of how they intend to evolve hockey game play. every year with tuners, etc, the game gravitates to the warm pile of poop we've been used to for a while now.
i never hope for folks to lose their jobs, but when there's no competition in the space, something has to happen to cause change in EA nhl development and design. the only way that can happen is to bring in new people and vision to the group. i'm actually a fan of rammer, but think it's time they find someone new to try to achieve something different given the tight constraints the nhl team likely has resource-wise.

That's partly why I don't like playing online. I just enjoy the sliders too much. I like dialling in the poke check to be just effective enough that it can stop somebody who isn't protecting the puck, but not so effective that it's a constant poke-fest.

Stick lifts as well.
I find often the game is set up so that you aren't sufficiently rewarded for positioning and timing.
I crank up the difficulty, turn off pass assist and turn up poke. stick lift and goalie screen effect.
It should be hard to make a 120 foot pass. It should be less hard to hit a guy's stick with your stick.

Just downloaded the patch...
So far not seeing anything really different except that I now freeze when I am at my auction limit and try to back out of posting said auction...
I love paying $80 to beta test a game...

Once they get all the patching done you'll have NHL 16 which will be released next September with no obvious improvement on the final version of NHL 15. Any claimed "improvements" will likely be stuff that should have been in NHL 15 by the final patch but didn't make it...and the cycle continues. The development team is simply terrible.
More people need to simply break their habit of buying the game just because. Took me forever to do that but second year in a row of not purchasing the game. It feels good once the shock of it wears off.
Still no sim to the next shift in be a pro?

Doesn't sound like it. No idea why they would remove that, since there is zero point to playing the mode without it.

Can anyone tell me if the puck is still made out of Flubber?
What completely turned me off 14 was the dump in that bounced to the top of the glass and took about 3 bounces beforesettling down. the amount of turnovers in the corner while the defenseman waited for the puck to land was irritating.

One of the only good things about the PS4/XB1 versions is the puck physics. It's way more realistic.
On PS3/360 I imagine it's still terrible.

So part of the update is the addition of a picture of a Honda in the pause/menu screen?

They have to make up for lost sales somehow.

yes the puck bouncing is better on next gen. Of course, when playing offline the puck only bounces over your dmans stick on dump ins, however, NEVER does so for the CPU players. I have yet to see that happen at least.

So I assume there is no 360/PS3 patching this year? There are still bugs in that game system but given the fairly vague response to all the criticism of their One/PS4 product, I expect no help for their older generation games.

I'm sure there will be a title update like most years.
The patches coming out now are content updates, and since the ps3 has all the content it doesn't need to be patched in.
What I find odd is that they are announcing the content updates as free. Are they planning on charging for additional content?
