I've watched draws before. I think we're throwing the term 'spectacular' around a little loosely.

It might be worth it just to watch Lothar Matthaeus scowl the whole time.

Does anyone know of any establishments that would be open to watch the draw Friday, downtown?

I'm doubting if many bars/restaurants will be open at that time, and I would prefer not to watch at my desk.

Some of the buildings downtown show matches or events on the TVs in their food court / +15 areas. You could talk to the security guards or contact the building managers and see if they'll screen it.

Does anyone know when the actual draw is? it looks like SNW has it starting at 8:30 MST and its a three hour show. It can't be more then 15 minutes to pull the countries out of the pots.

Theres a 2:45 minute speech by Blatter on the appeal of the World Cup in Qatar and how everything in Brazil is going amazingly well.

30 minute pregame 1 hour post game

The draw is a 90 minute show from 9am to 10:30. The draw itself will take 30-40 minutes.

Here was the one in 2010!

Have a look at this, wow there are a lot of interesting possibilities: http://ultra-zone.net/2014-FIFA-Worl...up-Stage-Draws. The 4 south American teams in pot 1(you can get Brazil or Columbia) and the Euro teams in pot 4(Italy to Bosnia) are such a variety that this will be a very interesting draw. I seem to remember that the top teams do get through, its the second group of contenders that get punted early. On the other hand Italy went home early last time from a weak group.

they say the ideal group to be in is Group H. Short travel distances and moderate temperatures. Group G is also short distances but it is the hottest in the NE of Brazil and 1pm kickoffs.

on the eve of the draw I found this little gem

In the 1982 draw the first two European teams drawn were supposed to go to the 2 South American groups (Argentina in Group 3 and Brazil in Group 6)

Of course Blatter even back then didn't have a clue what he was doing.

Is this the reanimated corpse of Dick Howard? He looks like hell.

The one thing you can count on Brazil for: Gratuitous Boob Shots.
