So we lose our best outfielder? We gain nothing?
Fire JP tonight, don't wait, fire his ass now.

JP didn't want to cut the guy, I haven't heard the press conference or anything, but I'm sure Rogers wanted to cut payroll.
Half the posters in this thread should be happy about this move regardless.

Has this actually happened, or is this just what Tyler thought is going to happen. I didn't think the waiver thing expired until Tuesday, and I don't see it reported anywhere yet.

I'm actually quite upset about this.
Stupid Wells and his idiotic contract. If only he was the one leaving instead.
(Sylvanfan, it was just reported on Sportscentre)

Too bad Rios isn't worth changing my allegiance for.
The Jays sure as hell don't want it.

Globe and Mail has a link too. JP has called a press conference.
Well guess it's time to look at potential FA's in 2010? I'd love to see them find a player of the same calibur for cheaper.

I'm with Mach, I'm not happy about this at all.

Wow ... got nothing for him. Is Rogers clearing the deck in a bid to sell the team?

Probably just to cut pay roll, continue losing, and grab some more cash from the Yankees and Red Sox through revenue sharing. Then cry about how they can't compete with the Yankees and Red Sox because they don't have any dough when the Jays probably have a higher profit than the Sox or Yanks.

I almost still don't believe it as J.P. and SportsNET both have pretty shoddy reputations!
But looks like the Jays decided no on that contract. I can't imagine the lineup they'll put out tonight. Looks like the Yankees will head into Seattle this weekend with a 10 game win streak.

No kidding. At least try to get a couple of cheap promising hitters.
JP said he kept Doc because he thought the team could contend in 2010, then he trades one of the most talented players they have, with a fair contract, for NOTHING.
JP friggin' ######ed.
Absolutely no direction. I wonder what Halladay is thinking, now that he's stuck in this circus at least until the off-season.

No matter what you think of Rios, I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who thinks he has zero value.

I'm on the same boat as most here. I am personally glad he's gone, but getting nothing for him is just outrageous.
However, I've never been a big Ricciardi guy so it doesn't shock me. Hiring some moneyball dude who worked under a guy who almost had a competitive team doesn't seem like the recipe for success ... but whatever.
Another wasted year, but it could be worse. At least I've seen my team win twice in my lifetime ... I could be a Cubs fan.

What do you expect from a team with a bonehead GM with an interim CEO who can't find a replacement for himself in order to fire the bondhead GM.
