For my Wildcard #1, Team Alternate Feed selects a show that was a staple in my living room when I grew up...
The series was predated by two separate series of specials, one devoted to television and film bloopers -- humorous errors made during the production of film and television programs, or on live news broadcasts -- and the other a series of specials featuring classic television commercials. The TV's Censored Bloopers specials were hosted by longtime TV producer Dick Clark starting in 1982 (and were dedicated to 1950s TV producer Kermit Schaefer, who had pioneered the concept of preserving bloopers) and the Television's Greatest Commercials specials, which also started in 1982, were hosted by Ed McMahon (which he continued to co-host even as he moved on to co-host the weekly Bloopers series). Both sets of specials garnered high ratings, and following a combination special (TV's Greatest Censored Commercial Bloopers), in the fall of 1984 it was decided to combine the two programs into one series, hosted by Clark and McMahon. Beginning with Super Bloopers, Charlie O'Donnell would be added as announcer (to intro both McMahon and Clark, and to announce bloopers in the "Coming up next" bumpers).
Besides dividing the show between bloopers and classic TV advertisements of yesteryear, the show also featured at least two practical joke segments per episode, featuring celebrities caught in Candid Camera-like situations (a forerunner of the later series Punk'd).
As the original two-year weekly run of the series progressed, adjustments were made to the format and eventually the commercials were phased out along with other segments, leaving only the bloopers and practical jokes behind. It was also renamed Super Bloopers & New Practical Jokes.
Jim Henson articulated a vision of Fraggle Rock as depicting a colourful and fun world. Also a world with a relatively complex system of symbiotic relationships between different "races" of creatures, an allegory to the human world, where each group was somewhat unaware of how interconnected and important they were to one another. Creating this allegorical world allowed the program to entertain and amuse while seriously exploring complex issues of prejudice, spirituality, personal identity, environment, and social conflict. Fraggle Rock generally refused to over-simplify any individual issue, instead simply illustrating the consequences and inherent difficulties of different actions and relationships.
Primary Fraggles
Gobo a "leader", unusually level-headed and practical for a Fraggle, prefers to be in control of most situations. He plays the guitar (made from a gourd) and often goes on trips to explore the lesser-known tunnels of Fraggle Rock, apparently more out of a sense of obligation from being Traveling Matt's nephew than from personal inclination. Unlike the other core cast members, Gobo has a Canadian accent.
Mokey represents a highly spiritual and artistic type (she recites poetry, sketches and paints), and is usually quiet and contemplative, though even she can get annoyed from time to time. She is the optimist of the group, trying to see the best in everyone and everything, and comforting her friends when no such "bright side" can be found. According to episode 15, Mokey can make friends quite easily because of her optimistic personality.
Red, in direct contrast to her best friend Mokey, has an exuberant and athletic nature; she is one of the best swimmers among the Fraggles. She was described by Mo Rocca on VH1's I Love the 80s: Strikes Back as the "Buck the establishment Fraggle." She is also highly cynical of her friends' plans and ideas and often teases Gobo about his Uncle Travelling Matt (occasionally yawning while he reads the postcards). Red, like Gobo, wants to be in control, and there is often friction between them over who should be the one in charge.
Wembley, Gobo's best friend, appears nervous and pathologically indecisive (mostly because he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings; saying 'yes' to someone means saying 'no' to someone else). In fact, "to wemble" is a Fraggle verb to describe indecisiveness. Starting with the episode "The Thirty-Minute Work Week" and in later episodes, Wembley works with the fire department, as their siren. Wembly also has a crush on Red.
Boober's cardinal traits include depression and worry, and his favorite activity is washing socks – Fraggles, however, do not seem to use footwear most of the time. Boober is almost always negative, and displays hypochondriac tendencies, and is allergic to dogs. Boober is also Fraggle Rock's cook and launderer.
And, in FREAKIN AWESOME news... (Yet horrible news about Doc, he was awesome in Boondock Saints)
Feature film
In September 2005, it was announced that The Jim Henson Company had begun work on Fraggle Rock: The Movie, with the aim of a release in 2009. The story allegedly involves the original Fraggle characters.[3] As of October 2006 this is still current and the BBC reports that the film will be set in the human world with Frank Zappa's son at the helm. [4] As of October 20, 2006; according to Darkhorizons.com: "Henson's company has hired executive producer Ahmet Zappa ("The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless") to write a treatment for the film which will be a full-length live-action musical fantasy starring the underground dwellers who venture out into the human world. Henson Co. co-topper Lisa Henson is producing, whilst Brian Henson will exec produce."
In May 2008 it was announced that The Weinstein Company will be distributing the Fraggle Rock movie. The film is being written as a live-action musical by Cory Edwards, who will also direct. The film will be produced by The Jim Henson Company; Ahmet Zappa is still executive producing along with Brian Inerfeld. The film will involve all of the core characters from the series. The story will take the characters "outside of their home in Fraggle Rock, where they interact with humans, which they think are aliens." [5] Karen Prell and Dave Goelz will return for the film as Red Fraggle, Boober Fraggle, and Uncle Traveling Matt, respectively. Shooting is expected to begin in early 2009. Unlike previous film adaptations of television series from the 1980s, the movie will not render the main characters in CGI. According to Cory Edwards's blog, Gerry Parkes will NOT reprise his role as Doc for the movie.
I might be confused, but Halifax, I think you already made your cartoon pick last Friday with The Tick http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...postcount=1397So you now have 21 shows on your team. I suppose you'll be dropping D&D, but that's your call to make.
My final pick is coming soon... (Screw you Superflyer .. I had Mission Impossible already in mind, but that'll learn me for procrastinating!)

Yes I did thanks, I'll drop D&D. I forgot I got The Tick, I just checked the board and picked the ones I had blank.
Anyone have any picks left? I'd like to trade my sci-fi pick if someone else has something in mind. PM me. I can't come up with anything.

Am I a big nerd if I confess I enjoy setting up a new (or old) computer?
It's great. I too love setting up/reformatting a PC. The best thing is that it's a work laptop and before the blue screen of death I didn't have any admin rights (no loading new programs etc) now I'm free to do what I want. WooWho!!!
Thank you Drunk...I've been holding off on my last pick (Sitcom) because I can't make up my mind - there are too many left that haven't been picked. Police Squad and My Name is Earl were both on my short list.
Unfortunately, my "short" list still isn't short enough. I'll get my final pick up eventually.

Shows not picked but I would like to give honourable mentions:
Hawaii 5-O
The Tick (live action)
The Munsters
I'll add to the list as I remember them. During the last few rounds there were a few I would have liked but couldn't shoe-horn them into my line-up.

Okay...I guess I should make my final pick. Too many great sitcoms that haven't been picked. I should probably pick The Mary Tyler Moore Show, or The Honeymooners, or Everybody Loves Raymond, but instead I'll go with another of my old favourites that I can't believe hasn't been chosen.
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia
For my final pick in the Television draft, Frozen TV Dinner is pleased to select the cheesy, family favourite, in the Sitcom Category: The Brady Bunch.
No big write up, it's The Brady Bunch. It debuted in 1969 on ABC, and lasted for 117 episodes over 5 seasons.
If you want the back story, watch this:
Like many popular sitcoms, The Brady Bunch had multiple spin-offs. Unlike most sitcoms, the spin-offs didn't feature minor character from the original series being given a new series of their own (like the Jeffersons was spun off from All in the Family, or The Facts of Life was spun off from Diff'rent Strokes). The Brady spin-offs were continuations of the Brady family tale featuring many of the show's original cast.
The first spin-off was 1977's The Brady Bunch Hour, which was a variety show hosted by the Bradys (in character) on ABC. It lasted 9 episodes. Next, came the TV movie, The Brady Girls Get Married, in which the family reunites for Marcia and Jan's group wedding (it was the only spin-off to feature the full original cast). This led to The Brady Brides, a sitcom focusing on Marcia and Jan's married lives. It lasted 10 episodes (on NBC). Next came the TV movie, A Very Brady Christmas, where the whole family (now with grandchildren for Mike and Carol) gets together for a big family Christmas. This led to The Bradys, an attempt to turn the Brady family into an hour long drama. It lasted 6 episodes (on CBS).
Needless to say, the spin-offs were all crap, but they did give the Bradys the distinction of being the only tv family to have regular series on each of the big three US broadcast networks.
Thanks to GirlySports and all the other GMs for putting on another great CP Draft.

I guess it's fitting that since I took The Twilight Zone, that I end the draft with this selection as well.

OK, I've put off my final pick for way too long too.
The Don Lapre Appreciation Society selects for the Wildcard #2 category, "the coolest talk show on the planet," The Henry Rollins Show
"We work in a completely uncensored environment, without the constraints of conventional network programming. Hopefully, this allows for candor and spontaneity from our guests and perhaps makes our show somewhat different than the usual talk show. I don't spend much time in front of a television. I try to make a show that I would watch."
I sure hope this show comes back, I've watched every episode more than I care to admit.
