Best wishes Royle.

In a hospital waiting room right now having an impromptu E=NG session with strangers and one other CPer. Small world.

Maybe you can find a group session at your facility too.

Patience.

Andersson now.
Backlund (if interested) at the deadline.
Coleman over the next 12-18 months (by next deadline)
Kadri in a year or two, if/when it makes sense
Weegar in maybe 3 years
Huberdeau on a similar timeline

You don't disrupt the team. You don't blow up the dressing room. You have a natural transition and continuity, along with a steady stream of new assets over the next couple years. And you still trade all the players for assets, you just do it in a more controlled and positive manner.
Suspect that other players lower down on your list would eventually expedite this process by asking for a trade. Doubt they will watch the rest of their career dwindle as the Flames do a structured search for the bottom over 4-5 years. A long term plan where Weegar waits and plays on a ####ty team for the next 3-4 years to allow the Flames to get a structured tear down does not really seem to be in Weegar’s best interest.

And again, it doesn't blow up the team and destroy the room.
Yeah. It just doesn’t make sense.

I think you deal with Andersson now. Coleman, Lomberg, and maybe Backlund (he can choose, chase a cup or legacy) at this years deadline. Next year, Conroy can start sniffing around on Kadri and Huberdeau.

I think out of all of them, Weegar might be the guy who is here for the long haul. Hopefully over the next 2-3 drafts the Flames get some luck and get a player or two to carry the next era of Flames hockey.

The importance of having Weegar around to mentor Parekh can't be under-stated. He's the perfect guy to do that, and if he's gone, who's going to be that veteran leader on the blueline?

He probably doesn’t sign in Edmonton without one. Or he costs significantly more.

Trading away Rasmus and Weegar for futures would definitely give one a sense of the greatness of Wolf because the Flames would arguably have the worst defence in the league after those trades. Top pairing of Bahl - Parekh does not exactly inspire visions of Larry Robinson and Serge Savard for next year:

We need Weegar to finish the construction of the new rink. He stays.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Default 202/202 Season Trade Rumours and Speculation Thread

It makes sense for the Flames to move most of their veterans this summer: the next two drafts have really high end (generational?) players projected as the first overall pick. If you’re going to suck, might as well do that this year and next year

Interesting morning as teams move into draft mode... No new updates other then I would say the flames are not putting a for sale sign on the yard and selling everything cheap to bottom out. I think IF Ras gets moved, other players will want to explore their options over the next 0-24 months.

Flames have a good promising foundation already started unlike Chicago who sold their base when they went full send for bedard IE. Hagel ect.

My guess:
Batman = Bettman and they're expected to announce the framework for a new CBA tomorrow.

Thanks for the update, Sec. Certainly a bit disappointing about the 'IF' on Ras being moved.

What do you think the odds are of Ras staying vs leaving?

I’m no insider but he gone. The it’s a business line is usually the sign.
